Well to be fair Halo 3 does have a more intresting idea for co-op. There is not only diffrent characters for each player and a back story to the new player 3 and 4, but theres also a Meta game built in so you can compete against eachother at the same time. You get points per kills and stuff like that, so say you shoot a grunt it would be worth 100 points but if you headshot it then it would be worth more points. So it gives a competive and more intresting experience than just an extra 2 players to play with. There is also the Skulls hidden in the campaign that you can find and change up the campaign.

Anyway none if this is new so again Im not to sure what the meaning behind the whole thread is, but Halo 3 does have some nice co-op gameplay it seems.
