Hi everybody... I have once wrote here in 2005 about 3d gaming using the same technology as Imax cinema... but 3d projected on a still projection screen in front of you add little to the video game play experience... Things should be push further... You, the player, should be part of this stereoscopic vision of this virtual 3d world... Small and high quality lcd screens are now cheap and easy to get... The next generation should put the player in the center of the battlefield, LITERALLY... the next system should put the driver right in the bucket seat, LITERALLY... HOW?... 2 four inches (one for each eye separated up to your nose by a black curtain) 720p screen strap on your head... with even camera mounted on for head tracking or even looking at your real environment through the 2 screen if someone physically real in your home want to interrupt you while gaming..the two screens can even flip up to see your real surrounding if someone in the house yields at you... Its the only way to take 3d on another level for gaming... with cheap and good quality electronics we have today, its easy to assemble two small lcd screens together and strap it on with head tracking for the price of a new console... Oh!... and ad a good controller... remember... you can have all sorts of controllers... with this kind of platform with camera mounted on head... you can now see your own hands through your game...through those 2 cameras (one for each eye) you can now see in real time the sword or the gun like controller you hold in your hands... With this kind of new platform... You can now see the world around you through your game... 4 Real. Would you buy this next gen experience?...

Im not desparate...The industry seems desparate... with their kinet and moving sensor... it dont have any sense since you are just looking at a fixed screen instead of being in the center of the game .. LITERALLY... I just want to know how people would like to see such a platform... there is nothing like that on the market and it gives a complete new horizon of creation...

... having small lcd screen mounted in front of your eyes is the only way to have a complete virtual experience because the projected 3d virtual world is following your head... you have to physically look around you to see in real time your virtual world surrounding.... and those enemies walking toward you... in 3d... and getting bigger... you are physically in your room ... but you look around you and there is no escape...

If I wanted games to become an over complicated 3d mess of a world, I would leave my house. ;)

All joking aside I have no real interest in a full virtual reality. I play games to relex, not space shift. I'm sure if the tech was good, and reasonably priced there is a market for it, but not me. I'm out.

Virtual reality was supposed to be the next big thing when I was a kid, seems weird that no-one is interested in it now the tech is available to actually implement it properly.

... I dont understand either... they have spend so much money on tracking system that is almost irrevalent since you only look at a fxed screen... they just have to bring out a two cheap good quality 720p lcd screen... they already sell the rest of the tech!!!:x

From what I remember a lot of people got bad motion sickness and headaches from the basic virtual reality setups you used find in arcades and malls, don't know if that was to do with the old tech or a fundamental problem with virtual reality. Also the Virtual Boy system bombed horribly, maybe that's putting the manufacturers off.

There are also special things... tricks to know when rendering game in stereoscopic vision...instead of rendering 3d graphics... in stereoscopic vision processors renders 2d graphics... but those simple 2d images (one for each eye) put together create 3d... your brain process it instead of the computer...

VR needs to skip the stereoscopic headset and just wait till 3-d holographics are feasible, and go with a holo-deck (Star Trek: the Next Generation) type of experience.

you mocking something easy to understand is laughable... is there a brain inside that head?

Yes there is. A very fine one for the matter. And it's telling me this isn't has quite feasible as you are making it sound.

We need cheaper and more advanced tech (and no, plain LCD screens won't do the trip due to eye damage) to achieve this kind of immersion.

And PS9 is not possible in the near future, unless you know any kind of Super Secret High-Tech stuff we aren't aware of.

Don't see the point of 3D yet. I'm quite happy with the way gaming is right now. Anyways, if 3d is really successful I think consolites will go for it, no pc gamers.

That's considerably much closer. Now picture having 2 LCD screens for hours at that disntace from your eyes. Doesn't sound healthy.

Actually I don't think so. Like motion controls the 3D gaming is another gimmick, waiting for people to fall for it. Never liked it in movies don't expect me to like it in gaming.

For a 3 page thread, there sure is a lot of one person talking mostly to himself. Well, and calling everyone stupid. For... some reason...

[QUOTE="Miroku32"]Don't see the point of 3D yet. I'm quite happy with the way gaming is right now. Anyways, if 3d is really successful I think consolites will go for it, no pc gamers. Miroku32

... You have to experience it to know what you talk about...

Actually I don't think so. Like motion controls the 3D gaming is another gimmick, waiting for people to fall for it. Never liked it in movies don't expect me to like it in gaming.

... its not a gimmick and its a personnal experience... its something else then a fixed movie theatre screen...
