Tired of the disappointed Crysis 2 graphics threads...

Did anyone think that maybe, just maybe, Crytek were better at rendering a tropical setting?

Where was Farcry set? In a tropical paradise. Ditto with Crysis. Maybe the developer just had more talent working under that setting.

I realize all the technical complaints (no DX11, less customization with graphics on PC) - but I think the biggest difference is the environments. The character models and guns and everything still looks on par with the original. If they did another tropical island based FPS, people would just complain that they rehashed the series. Good on them for changing things up, let the haters hate.

Crysis 2 still takes place in a jungle... an urban jungle, but a jungle nevertheless... no?

In my opinion. Crysis 1 looks better, but the enviroment got boring half way through, while Crysis 2 has tons of variety.

The disappointment is the lack of improvements in a sequel that has come out nearly four years later. You act like by being on par with a game that came out in 2007, people should be satisfied.

I can take a dip in graphics or eye candy but you know what. Crysis 1 looks better and runs better on my system. Crysis 2 is such a poor game on a technical level its not even funny. It doesn't support crossfire it doesn't let you adjust graphic options to optimize performance without downloading a FAN MADE program. The game suffers from ghosting and tons of graphical glitches. The game can outright bug out and buttons will stop working forcing you to exit the game to get it to work again. It plays ok but the amount of problems I have had playing this game just make it worthy of scorn. It is lazy unfinished product not because its consolized but because it suffers from bugs and glitches has basic features that every other PC game has removed. Awful.

man, crysis 2 looks outstanding but the performance is pretty bad. it's the fps equivalent of castlevania lords of shadow where framerate is concerned :P and the pop ins...

Both Games are maxed. Crysis is set to Very High on all settings, and Crysis 2 is set to Extreme. Both games are played at 1080p (1920x1080) resolution. No tweaks or mods used.

Jeez, it looks beautiful no matter how you slice it. Maybe it's just because of my "inferior console mentality" or whatnot, but most of these games look the same- amazing.

Plus, not getting a game because the graphics are only a little better than the first in the series? That's just stupid.

What if the graphics are actually worse while also being inconsistant as feck When the game is full of glitches, does'nt have real PC menus, is littered in what looks like placerholder textures, has'nt received dx11 yet, needed a patch to not actually have a console menu in the first place, had and still has bad online servers and login issues, is rather untweakable and generally a technical downgrade in all aspects but lighting?

Crytek has by no means been modest about their little project during it's development so why is it so half assed and why are they keeping their community completely in the dark? That dx11 patch better do something amazing if it's ever actually released.
