To those bothered by LoZ; SS's art style... (56K is as lame as Tingle)

I don't see the big problem, Zelda is just finally getting back to it's roots (visually). They've done enough experimenting and playing around with zelda's graphical style. I mean, look at the history of Link's concept art.

Now, which of those look out of place? It's super cartoony WW link, and dark and moody TP link.

The visual design in SS is just back to form.

The complaint is not whether the series is staying true to itself. It's just that they expected something completely different, and their complaint is justified given the artwork we saw last year. There's nothing wrong with either liking it or not. People can have their own preferences you know. Personally I was a bit bummed for like 2 seconds, now i'm hyped as hell!

Actually everything before OoT artwork looks very out of place. I wasn't really bothered by the design, as some of the stuff looked really good. But the level design...man the level looked like it was launch title gamecube/ps2 quality.

EDIT: I prefer the more realistic/Twilight Princess approach. It made the game more epic to me.

I agree that the level itself looked pretty amateur, but the graphics were great. Also I'm pretty sure that forest was built to demo Skyward Sword.

But it doesn't look good. WW actually looked decent because of the art style. This looks like someone tried to pull off UE3 on the wii and failed on every level.

I think the enviroment needs some work, but the game's still a ways off. The character model though I love.

I actually liked the visual style, even though I think it felt a bit washed out in a few areas. My problem was with the level design, the scenery felt... I don't know... empty? Lifeless... what have you. Something that they can easily fix. I also didn't like the re-used animation from Twilight Princess.

Link can run faster now, I hope this doesn't serve as an excuse for him to run around broader, yet less detailed\charming environments. It's too early to really tell, we've seen next to nothing on the game yet.

imo a zelda game should look like dat , i wouldnt want it to look like oblivion or dragon age , its zelda after all , and wii has its limitation what it can produce in terms of graphics and i'll rather have nice artistic graphics like in okami for example than some half assed 3d realistic graphics attempt ... what i have a problem with though is the delay because that was the only game i was planning to buy this year for wii , guess my wii stays unplugged till 2011 :(

I also find it interesting that nintendo has opted to make it's games very shiny this gen.

I love the art style.I also liked WW and TP's art as well but something different is always good.

People will always complain about the new Zelda always. If it's not WW being too cartoony, it's TP being too dark or an OOT clone and now SS. :|

I personally love the art style, just as I loved WW's art style. I don't want my Zelda games looking the exact same except for some minor weaks with each installment. How boring is that? I'm glad Nintendo have the balls to shake things up with each new installment of a legendary franchise.

I agree, not only does it look fantastic but it's going back to form. However, it's just that it's been so long since we've had a Zelda that looks like the original Zelda (since Majora's Mask?) that people are surprised at the artstyle of this Zelda.

The problem is, ever since this game was so much as mentioned last year (which a dark mature looking poster) we've heard nothing but presumptions about it being a 10/10 and the best game released this year. Considering all the hype already, the first shots look rather underwhelming. It looks like a gamecube game and no where near finished.

People are only building this up right now because its zelda, the same zelda they've been playing for 20 years and would buy if it was an on rails cooking game.

Well, this is from a time when color was still done by hand. Now it's done by computer. The problem is, there's very few people on Earth who still have the craft required to hand paint a cartoon.

You should pick up red steel 2 and Resort. Get a head start. 1:1 sword combat isn't anything new anymore.

I guess that's why I am a bit underwhelmed by SS's combat. I know it works, I've seen it. It's just that it's been done before.

I honestly don't understand the haters at all on this one. It looks awesome IMO.

However I disagree with you saying that TP looks out of place in the OP. Maybe it could use less hair gel, but it fits perfectly. WW is the black sheep. (Earlier ones are reminiscent of old cartoons, but somewhat....ancient...in a bad way).
