todays 360 update - pretty cool or pretty lame?

i think the IM chat works fairly well, i also like the extra page for xbl marketplace instead of hitting the marketplace tab, but my favorite has to be the achievement icon that tells you exactly what achievement you unlocked instead of hitting the guide button. of course there is more but these 3 things really stood out to me, i do not care if a friend is playin a arcade game! so were you let down or pleased by todays update?

i also like the thing that shows you what game is in the console...and the new marketplace

I don't really mind it. The extra tab speeds things up a bit, messenger is probably one of those services I'll never use (including video marketplace) and the achievement unlocked upgrade is ok. It would have been awesome if they just released the forza motorsport 2 demo with it...

Oh, and if the faster downloads is true than that's a definite plus of course. Didn't notice the difference though while downloading a demo today.

Faster blades, faster downloads, achievements shown ingame, VGA colour support (made a massive difference to my screen), ingame MSN chat, re-organisation of the marketplace, auto-downloading, new video file support and a load of cool little additions that unless you look carefully you miss.

What's there not to like?

Unfortunately its impossible to tell how many of them are fakers. Its a well known routine for certain groups to, shall we say, malignantly spread false rumours about other consoles. I won't say who, but you know.

I've always loved the download speeds on my 360.  A 350 MB file on my PS3 could be a 2 hour event, and getting onto the Wii's store just to buy points and get a game is a crap shoot.  Sometimes its 5-10 minutes, sometimes it isn't happening that night.  Wondering if the 'your internet must suck' RE:s will start coming :roll:

It's crap to me.  All I wanted was support for more monitor resolutions and codecs....neither of which I got.ATrillionaire

Doesn't it support h.264? What other codec could you need?

The best thing is the MPEG-4 and  H.264 playback. The restrictions are not as strict as the PS3. The files that wont play in my PS3 work fine in the 360. The new chaper skipping for video files is also a very good feature...360 is getting closer to replacing my XBMC as a media player.rappid_rabbit

It would be great if there was a  "Go To" feature using the number digits for time jumping but not everybody has a remote. I have the media remote that came with launch Xbox's, and the Universal remote that came with the HD-DVD player. But that chapter skipping is great especially when I am watching my favorite football games which are at least 2-3 hours long. Now if it could only include XviD support, I would be all set...

Crap thing is, I cannot connect it to Vista Media Center, it only works with my Windows MCE as an extender, you would think Vista would connect to the 360 no problems and its a known issue (just do a google search) I had hoped the spring update would somehow fix this, but...alas it was not meant to be.

Then if the connection is that fast you could probably DL 2-3 demos 1 GB on 360 in 10 minutes.  The only other 2 people I know that own a PS3 have voiced displeasure in the DL speeds on PS3.  We don't all have bad internet connections either.

I`m happy with it. Only thing I dont like is that the Marketplace blade doesnt have my Halo 3 background:( Its so weird looking...without the background.jfkunrendered

Why would you want to use the im chat on 360? if you have enough money for a 360, surely you have a computer. 

One of the new updates i liked was when you click on your list of friends it will list which friends game you can join or not compare to clicking on your friends seperatly. that was a big plus for me.

I got a question for the ppl who made the joint account of your xbl and msn messenger account. If you do it does it show ppl your msn email account, or can you set that to private? I havent done it cause i dont want to give my email ad to the public.
