Yes, at this point, the consoles have only been out for one whole year, with the exception being the 360.
And in game quality, I don't believe the Wii can match what the PS3 is bringing to the table in '08. Even Smash Bros. Brawl may fall under the might and hype of MGS4 or even Killzone 2.
The PS2 won the last fight and the one before that simply because it's selection of games appeals to all audiences, not just younger children (Wii) and more grown adults (360). But with PS3 sales down in America because of its high price tag, I'm not sure. Sony is doing fantastic with PS3 in Japan, but is struggling against the Wii and 360 here in America. I just hope Sony doesn't get last place in the console war, having that console is never fun.
But indeed, we need to wait a while, after all the big "system-sellers" have been here and left, and developers are thinking of the newest generation of consoles.

The PS3 has been selling really poorly in Japan also.
1) Wii
2) PS3
3) 360
Wii is unstopable. PS3 will sell well because of its blu-ray player. 360 will have good America sales but wont do anythin in Japan and thats why PS3 will edge it out in the end.

I seriously doubt Wii is unstoppable. The only seemingly quality games coming out for it exclusively this year are Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, and possibly something else that's name eludes me. It still believe it's too early for people to make charts about who's going to win. It's simply too early to crown anyone winner of any generation, when it's only been going full-speed for a year or so.
As for HarlockJC, read this article, PS3 sales in Japan have risen tremendously.

When Wii caters to ALL audiences by garnering MORE 3rd Party support like PS2 did, and surpassing the 120 Million + like PS2 did (which I doubt the Wii will ever accomplished in the next few years). Then Wii gets the crown.
Otherwise, No.
The PS brand name is just as powerful as Nintendo. But when people think of Playstation, they think of ALL types of games catering to them, this means more M-rated, more T-rated, more E-rated games and more 3rd Party support, etc. There should be a balance in the types of games that caters to a certain audience. We saw this with Playstation 1, Playstation 2, and very soon we'll see this happening with Playstation 3.
Just because the console sells well doesn't make up for the fact that you can count its quality titles on one hand. Sorry bud, you fail.Ket87
And this is why I get angry at people who think sales of the system doesn't make up for quality titles...IT'S ALL MONEY. It doesn't matter how many quality titles a system has, as long as the developers are making money off of it, it's all the same to them.
Besides, you have closed your mind to the games that were ridiculed as bad but were actually very good. PS3's Lair, for instance, was criticized for being a plain bad game. Wii has some too, including No More Heroes, which was complained about for being simple, and having poor graphics.
Besides, it's not like I couldn't do the same for Wii. You don't need the game to be a system-seller to be considered a quality game. That's why you fail.

SSB Brawl, No More Heroes, Mario Kart, Final Fantasy CC: Crystal Bearers, Disaster Day of Crisis, Okami are allWii exclussives off the top of my head that look good for this year. Plus Nintendo will be announcing their second half of the year and more games at E3
We can't be sure until well after the end of this gen.Tylendal
Finally, someone who gets it. It's too early to tell which console is going to win this gen. Just as the subject asks, "Too late to crown Wii?" The simple answer is yes, it is too early.

To Wall Street its all about the money to gamers no. If the Wii makes billions of dollars but has s***ty games which one affects you? It doesn't matter that its selling well or continues to sell well. The console has only a few excellent titles for sure, the majority all Nintendo brands. The Wii is a failure because it fails to make up for the GameCubes mistakes and to some extent a problem that developed during the waining days of the N64, Nintendo's god awful third party support. The Wii is selling because of its cheap pricing and the Wiimote. Well the Wiimote is just a fad, after a year its obvious that only Nintendo and a few select devs can even make good games out of it further burdening the third party issue.
What does the PS3 have anything to do with this or No More Heroes? No More Heroes was deemed average get over it. And yes a console needs a system seller, more than just Brawl which is to me all it has. Brawl wasn't even that good, I got my hands on it a few days ago and it was Melee all over again, nothing different but the controller and online play. If it wasn't for all the hype and the dry spell of games on the Wii + being the first game with online play like that it would have been deemed average.

Both sales and quality games matter. Smash Bros Brawl the same as Melee?....I could easily say Halo 3 was just a rehash of Halo 1&2. These games are sequals to a series what to you expect, the devs enhance and perfect the formula not completely change it. Wii has more quality games than just Brawl look it up, I'm sick of listing them for these fanboys.

consoles with "s***ty games" don't sell and don't turn a profit. Obviously the wii is doing something right and providing people with software they want.

What changes to the formula are there in Brawl compared to Melee? Different maps and a few new characters don't count man. Yeah the Wii has more quality titles than Brawl, sadly there Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda, RE4, and Umbrella Chronicles. And two of those were on GameCube.

Stages, charecters, physics, graphics, items, online, LARGE SINGLE PLAYER MODES. What changed in Halo 3......same things pretty much and you know what they're still great games.
Please quit while your behind.
I feel sad for Wii fanboys because they think selling more makes you the winner in a console generation 'war'... Look at quality games for the Wii, except the usual Mario/Zelda/Metroid it has nothing to offer... NOTHING !!!
When PS1 & PS2 won their respective console wars, it was because they had the major quality and successful titles on their side, not just 1st party games but 3rd party ones...
But if fanboys are happy to play the old 1st party franchises only for their wii + the usual crap of Mini / kiddy games, then goodluck to them !!
Crown what ? No, Wii is many gamer's minds (like mine), appeals to non gamers, and about not at all to gamers, that is what i think
I have one, but i only have Zelda for it. It's only true game, and a mediocre one IMO, comparing to the glory of old
The previous systems were bad enough, with near no games to buy, but this is geting 100x worst this gen for my Wii, i simply want no game for it, even Fire Emblem that i want, looks exactly like the old ones
This is by miles the worst buy i have made this gen

So you have a Wii now? You also claimed to have a ps3 in another thread. Also you have a quad core pc according to yet another thread.

Hmm, well one will affect me. First off, the more Nintendo makes, the more money the Mariners have to sign free agents, which is a plus, because I really would like to see them do well. Next, the more Nintendo makes, the more they can be like Microsoft and pay companies to make games for me, as well as be able to make more games in the future. The terrible games don't affect me, because I won't buy them. So you're right that only one will affect me, but you're wrong on which it is.

The highest seller does win the console war. Games are all opinion.
Saying theres no games besides Nintendo's main franchises is just being a blind fanboy.

What is there not to hate about Wii ? That one of my most wanted title EVER, the next Zelda will look like utter crap because it will be on an archaic hardware of Wii ? SHould i LOVE Ninatendo for destroying one of my most (not anymore) wanted titles ?
Thank the gods there is Fable 2, to fully cover in Zelda place in years to come, as my most favourite game of all time
not the king of consoles or games or software sales, only hardware sales and thats because because of stupid little casual gamers who think waving their hands around for 200 dollars is fun, im not saying it isnt but in my opinion its the worst console this generation and is only doing excellent because of **** casual gamers who only buy like 2 games, and its the same with ds, and im not sayin SSBB, SMG,mario kart arent good but those are the only exclusives i want to play on it
