Over on Amazon.com, at the time of posting, it is the 15th top-selling 360 item and the 9th top-selling 360 game, and the 3rd best-selling item over on EBGames, beating out everything but the Fable 2 LE and a Wii-SMG bundle.

It seems to me that, in spite of all of the apparent negativity in the gaming community (i.e. forums), it shall do relatively well, thus indicating that forums are not, by any means, valid indications of the gaming community at large. It also shows that the public is capable of recognizing a good game in spite of negative press (as opposed to blindly following ads and the few front-page previews at their favorite gaming site) through a good demo.

The vast majority of the gaming public doesn't even know what gamespot.com is or IGN.com or Kotaku or countless others. They don't watch GameTrailers TV, as proved by its ultra-late night time schedule. They don't subscribe to Insider or other "premium" online sites. They don't hit up GameFAQs for help in games - and don't know what it is. They see magazine coverage (pretty covers of magazines). They see impressive commercials. Advertising determines game sales, not stuck-up game reviewers who think they're Gods. Why else would Kane and Lynch sell a million plus?

New games generally do score high in the sales/pre order charts. It's pretty high, if not the highest in the GAME.co.uk pre order chart aswell.

The thing is, though, that Too Human has had close to zero advertising from what I've seen, and a week ago, when it was #7 on the 360 over at Amazon, it had absolutely zero advertising. Pretty much all of these sales were generated by people playing the demo and recognizing it as a stellar game-every non-forumite I have seen who has played it loved the bejeesus out of it.

I, for one, am happy that Too Human looks like it will receive the success it deserves. It means that we will be seeing a sequel :)

Of note: it beats out Gears 2 on both charts, and the normal edition of Fable 2 on both charts as well.

But all GT games have had massive commercial success.

It's a proven, extremely well known franchise.

Nice find and that it's only out as a demo right now yet #7 on XBL speak volumes.

Those nastier then trolls ( gaming sites ) trying to sabotage this game have failed hard and will be remembered by this gamer - not in a good way.

On Amazon, I'm going by 360 :)

But on EBGames/Gamestop, I didn't need to-it's really 3rd overall.

That's what I thought the first time I played through the demo, but, the more I played it, the better it became. I gradually came to grasp the combat, I found a camera version I liked, I came to understand how the equipment did what it did (and the differences between the various types), and I wrapped my head around other minutiae such as the charm system.

That's part of the point of this thread-it goes to show that a solid demo speaks volumes more than bad previews and forumite bashing.

If the demo is representative of the final game (which I think it is), and these people got hyped because of the demo, I don't think it's too off-the-wall to say that they won't be.

I think the game would be much better if the right stick moved the camera like in DMC, and the combat used face buttons. There's nothing special about using the stick for comabt. All it does is limit camera movement.

Well, if you set the camera to strategic or iso, it's far enough out that it, quite honestly, doesn't cause any problems at all, eliminating the need for analogue camera control. Also, doing so would make the sliding mechanic more difficult to implement, finishers almost impossible to implement, and take away precious button space from battle cries, rolling, jumping and spider skills.

You can quote me that it shall not be the next Haze, but nowhere did I say it would be AAA. Nowhere.

Of note: did you know that System Shock 2 and Deus Ex, arguable some of the best games of all time, got 8.6's? Fallout 2 got an 8.2 if I remember correctly...

Scores don't always determine the overall greatness of a game, you know. Especially when they are only taken from one specific source.

Not agreed as the last thing this game is, is a button masher thank goodness and once you wrap your mind around the controls, you feel the Zen.

I have said it in every too human thread and I'm going to say it in this one. I feel this game is going to be horrible, I have played the demo and it is not my cup of tea at all. Now does that mean this is all fact? No, but I believe this game is going to have a horrible review and the final product is going to be horrible as well.

I don't care if I got used to the analog stick being the combat button. The problem with this game is everything, the combat is kind of... well... lame, he slides on on the ground towards his opponent. I think graphics are sub-par, the enemies are kinda of well lame once again. Already playing the demo I can see that the characters are well lame once again. Now I'm not saying its not going to be enjoyable for some people and outstanding for the few that like that style of a game. I just think this game shouldn't really be spoken about because it is horrible.

I honestly don't care.

You can scream "OWNAGE!!!1!1!1!" on me over the boards even if it gets a 15/10. The important thing is whether or not *I* enjoy it :)

Mind sharing the this gen game like Too Human which does it better ?

Can I quote this? Under AAA will be flopage :P

I dont think anyone put this game in AAA status. If they did they were joking.

Lol, not even TC thinks its getting AAA.

Of course not! The current reviewing system industry-wide seems to care far more about a game's hype level rather than it's overall quality, as indicated by the fact that games like GTA4 got 10's, while games that are arguably far better, such as STALKER, got 8.5's. Too Human doesn't have a chance in hell of getting AAA from anyplace but 1up, Gamespy, and numerous smaller reviewers. However, this will not distract from the fact that it will, IMO, be a good game.

STALKER was hyped significantly here, if memory serves, and it got an 8.5-less than what it was hyped to be by a fair amount. Does it matter? Nope. The game was, without a doubt, far better than its score indicated; the hype was justified, but the review was not :)

There are so many cases of that. I'm still puzzled over Deus Ex, System Shock 2 and Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It doesn't bother me though, when you think a game is fantastic, why should the score matter?
