too late to get a psp?

Is it at the end of it's lifecycle? There's a few games that interest me: the Ghost and Goblins, GoW, the Monster Hunter games, and some of the FF stuff. I'm just worred about dropping the money on it and Sony puts out the next new portable next year. I actually made this mistake by finally breaking down and buying a GBA and the DS came out like a month later.

A new system needs at least 1 year after announcement till its released and Sony didnt say anything about it == so I guess it will take at least 2 years till PSP2 is released so just buy it its a good system way better than DS for non JRPG fans xD.

if anything, now is the best time to get one, with cheap used prices and wide variety of games on the market for it if u have never owned one

If you want to get one, get one. I don't think a PSP2 will be realeased anytime soon.

The only games i recommend getting are FF crisis core and monster hunter if you do get it

Nope. The PSP is an excellent handheald. Especially if you missed out on some classic PS1 RPG's.

normally you'll start to hear rumors about new hardware before launch. Even the announcement is still quiet far ahead for a next gen console.

Unless there's an announcement at e3 (very unlikely) I wouldn't expect to see a psp2 for 2 years.

I've have heard a rumor about the ds2 though, but it's very unlikely at this point in time.

An anonymous source said the studio they worked for had been working on DS2 devkits. Which can pretty much be somebody pulling a prank, misheard info or a serious source. The rumor also states that there'd be more info at GDC (which is in 2 weeks). I think we can confirm or dispel the rumor upon that.
