To many for me to list here the link

Here some news from the end:

  • he PS2 is far from dead—contrary to popular belief, the PS2 is not limping along on life support. In fact the PS2 market is a vibrant one that continues to be successful, thanks to the huge installed base and lower price point of games for the system. This is particularly evident in sales numbers for sports and licensed games. The vast majority of multiplatform titles in these genres found the most success on the older PlayStation model. The PS2 is still the system the masses play games on.
  • Consumers are looking for more Wii Sports—Most sports games were most successful on the PS2, yes, but this was not the case for sports games with genres represented on Wii Sports. Multiplatform golf and baseball games surprisingly did best on Wii.
  • Exclusives still rule, and Wii rules exclusives—out of the 100 games on this list, a full 34 are exclusive to one platform. The Wii's unique development environment ensured it the plurality of these exclusives, with eleven games on this list (twelve if you count Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition). The DS has a similar number, while the Xbox 360 only mustered a tepid three.
  • The common knowledge still applies—just like last year, it still looks likes the best way to find success is to pump millions of dollars into an exclusive title of superlative quality, or snap up a license and shoot a version to every viable platform there is. This year a third route has opened up; making an inexpensive Wii and/or DS game and hoping it strikes a chord in the consciousness of the consumer. While the data does show that this plan was successful multiple times in 2007, this is a crowded field based on the rapidly depreciating novelty value of the Wii. It is likely that such strategies will not be fruitful in the future.

It is startling how fast the players move from game to game and the way marketing does wonders.

Though Mario & Sonic and Mario Party are not that far off from SMG. Hell, anything with "Mario" on it sells no matter how much crap the game is.

I love Mario Party and my son enjoys Mario and Sonic, so I don't have a problem with them selling well.

You're right, but the better game still got the sales. Hell if we're going by brand name appeal you'd think Sonic+Mario would be number 1. Fact is looking at this list all the systems have released licenced pap which have hit the top 100, but each systems best selers are hardcore titles.

Good to see. That's why I bought my wii is for the sports games. I enjoy my playing Tiger woods or Madden on my Wii far more than the PS3 or 360. Can't wait for We love golf.

yay. most of the people i know don't use the wii as their primary platform. actally all but one of the people i know don't have it as their primary system. they either have pc/wii, wii60, or ps3/wii. I'm not dissing the wii. i love it. my roommate has it and we download all the oldschool games like ninja gaiden and golden axe. it just doesn't have the power to be a stand alone system. this is all of course my opinion.

Seems like any kind of crap will sell on the Wii and DS.

And why did NHL 08 sell so humongously crap compared to FIFA and Madden? Heh, never mind.

100. NHL 08
PS2/PS3/X360/PC
460K

5. Madden NFL 08
PS2/PS3/X360/PC/PSP/Wii/GC/DS/XBX
5.7M

4. FIFA Soccer 08
PS2/PS3/X360/PC/PSP/Wii/DS
5.7M
Again, Wii and DS.

yeah, it must be the Wii and DS. it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Football and Soccer are astronomically more popular than NHL.

Call of Duty 4 sells 8.3 on Xbox/PS3/PC and DS

Halo 3 sells 8 on only one console, I wonder how well it would sell if it were on all the others.

I'd say, around, 15 mil at least.

Seems like any kind of crap will sell on the Wii and DS.

And why did NHL 08 sell so humongously crap compared to FIFA and Madden? Heh, never mind.

100. NHL 08
PS2/PS3/X360/PC
460K

5. Madden NFL 08
PS2/PS3/X360/PC/PSP/Wii/GC/DS/XBX
5.7M

4. FIFA Soccer 08
PS2/PS3/X360/PC/PSP/Wii/DS
5.7M
Again, Wii and DS.

ogvampire

yeah, it must be the Wii and DS. it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Football and Soccer are astronomically more popular than NHL.

That might also have something to do with it.

Kinda throws a wrench into the theory that people are buying a PS3 for the PS3 Exclusives rather then as a Blu-Ray Player.

Hmmm, PS2 is what the masses game on? Funny lemmings, I thought it was the 360 according to you guys, and that Sony is dead. Mark my words, the PS3 will own the 360 in sales when all is said and done, just because of the brand loyalty people have to Sony.

HarlockJC

and most of those exclusives are shovelware....

Yeah because we all know SMG,MP3, RE:UC, DDR. Super Paper Mario, Rayman:RR2 and Pokemon Battle were all shovelware

Its kind of funny when you look at the breakdown of 100 best scores for the past 12 months (I just did a simple list, didn't sort exclusives or not).

X360 - 30
PC - 21
PS3 - 18
PSP - 10
DS - 10
Wii - 8
PS2 - 3

Now I really did enjoy SMG, Brawl, and Corruption, but still, the Wii didn't even have a game per month that scored above 81.6? Including multiplats? :|

Yep. To be honest i expected HS to be pretty low on the list, but i thought R&C would have charted a lot higher since it's a proven franchise.
