Top 15 Nintendo Franchises of All Time (Guess What's #1!?!?!)

So here's a list that I came across, and one that I don't think sucks. GamingBolt just published a list of the Top 15 Nintendo franchises, and while I have a few issues, I think it's a good list overall.

Personally, I think the list makes for a nice change, with one rather refreshing surprise. I was also pleasantly suprised to find Wii on the list- it's one of Nintendo's most influential IPs of all time, and yet it is one that hardcore gamers scoff at the most.

What do you guys think?

Starfox higher up than Donkey Kong? Pretty much blasphemy..

I would rate Fire Emblem higher for sure. But then again, I have also imported a whole lot of them from Japan. So I played the series during its prime which was Fire Emblem 4 with its mature themes and enormous maps.

However, pretty good list overall. WiiX series is certainly underrated, Wiisports (especially resorts) is pretty good.

My list would look something like this:

I think its just insane to put Mario behind Pokemon. Zelda I can understand even though I like Mario more than Zelda.

I would have thought as a franchise Mario > Zelda.

I mean... Super Mario Bros 1 / Super Mario Bros 3 / Super Mario Galaxy 1 / Super Mario Galaxy 2 / Super Mario World alone are all some of the best games of all time.

They are but The Legend of Zelda / Link to the Past / Link's Awakening / Ocarina of Time / Majora's Mask / Wind Waker / Twilight Princess(ya, i said it! :D) are also some of the best games of all time.

Pikmin and Kirby need to be higher. Those are two of my favorite franchises right there.

There were names on there that I didn't even know were Nintendo franchises. I'm not surprised though by what's number one.

Yeah I know it's better not to feed these guys, but I'm trying to prove a point and see what exactly he thinks a "great" game is.

It was obvious Zelda was #1 from the moment you said Mario isn't. I'm just surprised that Pokemon is higher than Mario.

Fire Emblem is great. But it is not for everyone. One of my favorite things about the series is the permadeaths. Games should punish you for losing characters, and in too many games out there the penalty for having party members die in combat is either too lenient or non-existant. Permanent death means you are extra careful.

SWTOR, Mass Effect have no penalty whatsoever for losing characters in combat (though ME can be forgiven since the AI there is terrible). DAO has a very lenient penalty. Which detracted from my experience in those games.

Fire Emblem is also one of the few Nintendo tries to tell a good story (although both Majora's Mask and Windwaker had good stories for video game standards as well). In this regard seisen no keifu does it pretty well, in the spoiler tag are some of the themes in the game, although what the themes are may be a spoiler in itself.

[spoiler] bigotry, incest, genocide, child killing, political corruption, brainwashing, cthulhu like cult, sexual themes that may not be appropriote for GS, sacrifice, fratricide [/spoiler]

Oh, and it features a morally grey villain.

All the games on the list are great except Pikmin. Basically my list, though Golden Sun would be higher.

Mario kart and smash bros. shouldn't be above metroid.

I agree, DK should be much higher than starfox. But Starfox adventures on the GC was a great game, it just wasn't your traditional starfox game.
