Saw this on IGN. I personally think this is one of the better lists. It's missing a few games like GT5, Twisted Metal, War/Starhawk - but then those game have taken a back seat. The only thing I would probably change is switch Demons Souls with Ratchet and Clank. And of course add Ni No Kuni to the list! I think it's safe to say that the variety of PS3 exclusives simply cannot be matched by any system this gen.
15) 3D Dot Game Heroes
The world loves Legend of Zelda be it in 2D or 3D. Games like Darksiders brought the 3D gameplay of Zelda to the Playstation 3, but where is the 2D love? That is where 3D Dot Game Heroes comes it. It really is a new entry in that long running and many childs life shaping franchise. The hearts, the weapons, the fairies, and everything! Except it isn't on a Nintendo console and you can customize how you want your character to look. It even has "bad translations" to bring that lovely oldschool feeling back.
14) Heavy Rain
Heavy Rain can stand proud next to almost any PS3 game there is. This game takes quick-time events to a different level and makes it a part of the story, if you miss it no game over but it will effect the story. Speaking of story this is one of the best I have seen in a game. It way seem crazy on the surface but there is heart beneath it all. Also a great cast tops it all of and even though the strong point in this game is presentation the gameplay is still good while not getting in the way of the story.
13) Killzone 2
Killzone 2 is the best of the Killzone games and it has a hell of a lot of action. Grenades going off everywhere with tons of noise but with Killzone 2 it feels right. The action is always there and the plot is more interesting than most shooters out there. The graphics are great and compliment the game the entire time. Also aside the 10 hour campaign you have amazing 32 player multi-player to go with it. This is a great game throughout.
12) Resistance 3
Resistance is a bit of an anomaly among modern shooters in that it forgoes regenerating health (mostly) and resorts to the tried and true method of health bars from days gone by. Health packs are your friend but they are not unlimited. Add onto that the lack of any crouch or wall cling mechanic and it is all about you controlling a modern day shooter with the sensibilities of yore. What a wonderful combination it is indeed.
11) Yakuza 4
The Yakuza series is something incredibly special that is sadly overlooked by many people. It is part grand theft auto, part RPG, part japanese culture, and a little bit God of War. You get an open world city to run about and beat the snot out of people, level up, get new moves, use your surroundings to ruin peoples day, and excise some overly violent actions. The heart of the story is what drives the experience though.
10) Disgaea 4
Disgaea is one of my favorite game series of all time and the best SRPG series of all time and this game does not disappoint. This is the best looking entry in the series and that rocks. This is still the same extremely deep Disgaea gameplay that fans of the series have grown to love. This game still has an anti-hero protagonist with an amazing surrounding cast and you are still in for hundreds of hours of fun. This is the definitive Disgaea game on PS3 and one of the best exclusives as well.
9) Infamous
Infamous is a comic book game without the comic book. Well, their was an Infamous comic afterwords but that is beside the point. The gameplay really shined and was just a through and through fun 3rd person action adventure. The good or evil choices and power ups encouraged multiple playthroughs. Who doesn't love shooting lightning bolts out of your hands?
8) Little Big Planet
LittleBigPlanet is a very innovative platformer that in my opinion is better than any Mario game out there( do not hate). This game looks slick, the soundtrack is great and it runs smoothly. The best part about this game though is that you will have a lot to do. Not only will you have a story mode that should take you 10+ hours if you try to collect many things but also LBP's hook in its creation mode. This creation modeis extremely fun so you can show your creativity and see other's as well. Great game that should not be skipped my any PS3 owners.
7) Demon's Souls
Demon's Souls could not have come at a better time. For years, the difficulty of games had been waning. Games had changed from their philosophy of "made to beat you" to "made to be beaten". Demon's Souls showed up and said screw that! Hardcore challenge was back, but never unfair. If you die, it is all on you. Patience and skill are what is needed to pull you through this delightful action game. Truly one of the best exclusives the PS3 has to offer.
6) God of War III
God of War 3 is indeed a great looking game all the time. Not only are the graphics amazing but frame rate is good too. This game has some epic scenes and fights and the spectacle is very high, but this game is not just pretty graphics. The gameplay is still God of War and that is far from being a bad thing. There are still some changes to gameplay though so it does not feel exactly the same. Most of the new gameplay changes are welcome like changing weapons mid-combo. Also this is not the best God of War story but it is still a good one. This game is amazing in many ways and another game that should not be skipped by PS3 owners.
5) Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Metal Gear has a reputation for a few things: 1) being really good games. 2) Having a LOT of cutscenes. 3) sometimes being batsh!t crazy. Metal Gear Solid 4 continued the franchise with great stealth gameplay, about 8 hours of cutscenes, a story that wrapped up the saga of solid snake, and some great touches and nods that Kojima is known for. MGS 4 also turned Raiden into a cybernetic badass, and that auto gets it a spot somewhere on this list =P
4) Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time
Ratchet and Clank Future A Crack in Time is an excellent game and some of the best the series has to offer. This game is just another great, funny R&C tale that everyone can love. The gameplay for this game has a lot of variety and so do the planets you play on. There are a lot of weapons and I loved the clank segments in the game. Also like many of the games on this list the game is a visual pleasure. This game deserves to be on this list.
3) Journey
Journey is a strange game in that it doesn't present challenges per se, it doesn't have any dialogue, and its not very long. Yet it somehow conveys a truly powerful and touching story with gripping visuals and made me care more than most games ever could possibly dream of. The little touches in the game are what make it rise up above its peers. An exclusive that is downright fantastic and should be experienced by everyone, Journey is not to be missed.
2) Valkyria Chronicles
Valkyria Chronicles is freaking awesome and if you have not played it you should. Now let me start off and say damn that art style is amazing, just gorgeous* wipes tear from eye*. Also you have to love the gameplay, it is an srpg, action, third person shooter hybrid and it works very well. The story is very good too and the characters are characters that you can actually care about. If you have played this game and do not think it is good go to your doctor and see if you are on drugs, if he/she tells you no well uuuuuuh.
1) Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
The number one PS3 exclusive of all time is none other than Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. A masterfully paced story with stunning visuals, vastly refined gameplay over its predecessor, and some clever quips from its cast; Uncharted 2 stands as a pinnacle of game design for this console generation. The payoffs were greater, the characters were fun to learn about. Everything about this game is a positive. Even the way they incorporated myths into fact in its story were interesting and a treat to behold. If you play one game on your playstation 3, this should be it.
Uncharted at this point is probably the Mario or Halo of PlayStation. Uncharted 2 is a great game. Story is great and with great characters like Nate Drake, Chloe, Sully and more. This game improved upon the original in pretty much every way. The wonderful Uncharted game play is still here and better than ever, and multi-player is very fun. It is this game that will make someone without a PS3 a bit jealous.
