He is bland and uninteresting. There are many many people who deserve to be in there who didn't make it in. Gordon Freeman is a much better hero than he is in the silent type vein. Characters like Zeratul and Jim Raynor from starcraft were very well done and I felt they deserved a spot on there. I really didn't agree with alot of the list.

IMO Gordon doesn't have any personality at all. I thought that was the idea with him not saying anything? Making the player feel like they're in the world themselves, not playing some other character.

Also, if we're talking about rts's, Grigor Stoyanovich/GRIGOR 2 from Empire Earth would be my choice.

Because he is made personality-less for a reason. MC has lines in the game and stars in cutscenes, so his personality is bland for no good reason. Also I find a physicist with a masters in kicking asses and taking names from M.I.T. more interesting than a supersoldier.

TBH I think MC's personality is every bit as justified, at least if you take the backstory into consideration. Brainwashed soldiers that have been fighting for their lives since they were 10 aren't probably the biggest talkers around. Also, I've never really been able to relate to the MIT graduate story of Gordon, he never really does anything that would imply he actually is smart.

Gordon's backstory isn't very important because he is meant to be an immersive character. I didn't say I would've necessarily put him on the list if I had made my own top 25 list. I just feel he is a better example of a good character that is the silent type than MC is.

That list had a lot of losers. come on the zombie dude didnt even belong. Wheres Dante. Ryu(ninja gaiden), Cloud, Jak and Daxter, Gordan Freeman, etc.

Anyway the only thing they got right was Link.

I told you why: they're all generic action heroes in generic, albeit fun and popular, games. Look at that Top 25 list again, and you won't find any other generic hero on there except Master Chief (who I already said shouldn't be in there). Hell, a lot of those characters in the Top 25 aren't even the main characters of their respective games, like HK-47, Minsc, Kain, and Vivi. They're just there because they're awesome and memorable.

The characters you mentioned were all born during the era of 3D gaming when flashiness preceded depth.
