Top 3 current gen platforms (in terms of your preference)

Give higher ranking to the platform that you enjoy the most when playing games.

I.e. not necessarily the one that has the games you like, but rather the one on which you feel more comfortable gaming and for which you wish all other platforms exclusives to be released.

Here is my ranking

1- PC

pros:

Support for both Keyboard + M and X360 controller

Convienent digital download services (no discs, etc..)

Excellent for online coop

Mods to add new improved features and / or remove annoying ones.

cons:

Bad competitive multiplayer online experience (cheats / hacks)

Frustrating hardware compatibility bugs

2- X360

pros:

Excellent controller for all types of genres (except fighting)

Excellent architected light weight operating system with unified features across all games and optimized bandwidth for download / update / DRM management.

Paid service for online competitive multiplayer (adds a higher re-entry barrier for ban dodgers which reduces disruptive behaviour / cheating / hacking / etc..)

cons:

Extremely unreliable and outright flawed hardware coupled with unprecedanted poor customer response that took 5 years to rectify.

Poorly designed navigation menus (both aesthetically and functionally)

Outdated and highly overpriced digital distribution games on demand service.

3- PS3

pros:

Very elegant and minimalist navigation menus

Good quality BD player

Very reliable hardware

Region free

cons:

Bad controller design

Poorly architected operating system and services (extremely unsecure with decentralized features that feel tacked-on and cluncky. Also poor download + DRM management services).

There isn't a system I don't like, and I own them all. But the PC and the PS3 are my preferred choices for general purpose gaming.

• Light clamshell design, which also protects the screens
• Wide variety of games across multiple genres
• Long batterie life, bright screens and great sound volume

Cons:

• Weak Online system
• Weak Hinges
• Imagine series

2. PS3

Pros:

• Comfortable controller
• Well built hardware
• Good exclusive games

Cons:

• Junk Internet browser that crashes often
• Small text on SD screens
• Lack of a real Ape Escape game:cry:

3. WII

Pros:

• Has the best Platformers this generation
• Fantastic library of retro games
• Best (Offline) Multiplayer games this generation

Cons:

• Weak hardware (power wise)
• Multiple Friend codes
• Lack of multi-platform titles

I don't own an Xbox360 because of it's questionable hardware. I hardly use my PSP anymore and I haven't owned my 3DS long enough to judge it yet.

Glad to see so much DS love. It's my favorite modern system. SNES is my favorite overall, but I really love the NES and Genesis, too. Would've had DS at number one, but most my available gaming hours are actually on the PC. Glued to the keyboard.

Fourth Place would be the PS3 since I also play that alot actually PS3 might be tied with the DSi.

1. PS3 Pros:

Great controller design, keeping the same design since the PS1 is a good move. Why fix it if it aint broke? The placement of the analog sticks is perfect, with the way the controller is designed, your thumbs just end up in the correct positions.

Backwards compatibility. (At least with the older models.)

Great variety of games. PS3 exclusives range from generic, boring, repetitive shooters such as Killzone, to unique, engaging,funplatformers such as LittleBigPlanet.

PSN is free.

Wireless controllers that are rechargeable.

PS3 Cons:

PSN+. I know it's optional, but before you know it, more and more things on PSN will be exclusive to PSN+ members.

2. PC Pros:

Shooters are actually enjoyable to play on PC because it's a lot easier to aim with a mouse.

World of Warcraft

Online modding communities

PC Cons:

There are too many console exclusives I'd rather play.

You always have to be concerned about your hardware. Is it good enough? Do I need to upgrade my video card yet?

3. Wii Pros:

Good variety of games.

Wii Sports

Wii Cons:

Motion control is a pointless gimmick and doesn't work well for most games.

4. 360 Pros:

Great graphics. But that's a given for 360, PC and PS3.

Tales of Vesperia (The ONLY reason I bought a 360.)

360 Cons:

Too many generic shooters. Not enough variety in games.

How is that so? I mean as the 3ds is out, surely the DS is last gen and the 3DS current gen? But at the same time PS Vita has not released yet... How would you define which is next and current gen etc? Is there a single way of defining this?

PC > DS > Wii. Of course I only have a pc, ds, wii, and 360, but those are my favorites. Halo games are awesome but they're pretty much the only exclusives I like on 360. I'd put wii behind 360 if you could only have one system, but that's not my situation.
