Top 3 games NON GAMERS should play.

I have friends that dont play games, and i kind of want to get them started, and it made me wonder, what should i get them to play? These were the obvious choices imo.

Accessable, Challenging, and most importantally, SUPER FUN.

1.Portal

2.Super Mario Galaxy

3.World of Goo

Portal would probably be too hard for most non gamers, I would suggest them to play Halo since it takes no skill! Kidding :P

The Sims.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter definatley.

First party Nintendo titles.

Garry's Mod?

1. Tetris
2. Wii Sports
3. Pac Man Championship Edition

Good local four player games that a few friends will have a blast with.

Fable 2 could work as a good RPG gateway drug.

3. Pokemon

Start them off with platformers and XBLA / PSN / WiiWare games. Then have them try simpler RPGs like Fable and basic shooters like Halo (on easy). Then see what their personal taste is from there

Is it just me, or are non-gamers completely mentally incapable of understanding how FPS work?

They cant seem to understand how to work the analogue sticks, or at least thats what Ive found :|

Anyways, Id introduce them to the PC and let them have a go at the Sims 3. I think that would be a really good start.

Then theres the numerous XBLA and PSN titles that I think can totally win them over. Simple games with addictive and challenging features is the way to go for non gamers a la Geometry Wars, Super Stardust, etc.

Just dont introduce them to Wii Fit unless you want to make a casual gamer. And dont introduce them to online play because they are going to be decimated and likely leave with a bad taste in their mouths.

Try going back and playing goldeneye. I bet you'll spend half the time looking at the ground. The controls take a while to learn.

That game does not need gaming skills

It needs LOGIC

Portal can easily attract non gamers. especially puzzle lovers.

A non gamer with a high intellect can beat this game faster

than most gamers

Trials HD, at least for the first couple of stages maybe. Should be an easy enough concept to get a hold of I think.
Sports games. They may be more technically demanding, but if there's an interest in the sport to begin with...

i disagree, flower is a game , that gamers must play. to finally understand what a game CAN be

Depends on what they themself consider fun; do they like to shoot things, solving hard puzzle that requires simple gamplay, racing around tracks, or anything in particular. Super Mario Galaxy is a good start and maybe throw in Mario kart.

Portal is one of the most unique games ever created. Its also not violent, has brilliantly intellegent writing and its hilarious. All of those things are going to be good for non gamers to experience.

My friend peter doesnt play games and so i got him a steam account and installed the portal and world of goo demos and he loved them both. Especially portal

Portal is not to hard for non gamers. It has very little learning curve. Valve is good at that.

Why not portal? its the best? and is designed so well that it has a minimal learning curve.

I'am surprised no one has said COD4 or MW2 :P.

Games for non gamers work better if they are charming and give another reason to play besides the fun gameplay. PORTAL, World of Goo and SMG for example.

My friend tried to get his girlfriend to play Portal, and she couldn't beat the first few levels which was actually pathetic since that game isn't THAT hard
