I think he was just counting US totals. Kind of a complete lie by him.

When I heard Halo 1/2 as a top 5 seller I had to quickly check that up because I thought the GT series had sold better, which it did.

I'm quite sure he talked about console games (or maybe even just Xbox games?) from the previous console generation. Which should rule out The Sims as well.

Of course he wouldn't throw out a statement like that without having the numbers to prove it. He knows very well that tons of people are watching.

To be honest though he said top 5 games. Not top 5 selling games ;)

And compared to the number of consoles available (and thereby potential customers) Halo 1 and Halo 2 no doubt outsold Gran Turismo by a landslide. Selling 7 million copies of Halo 2 on Xbox is way more impressive than selling 14 million GT3 on PS2 when you take the number of potential buyers into consideration.

But we will no doubt get a clarification of this (and the clip on youtube so everyone can see what he actually said and not what someone *claims* he said) in a short while. Just like last year when tons of people claimed he said that GTA4 would be exclusive - which he never said.
