There was this racing game on the GBA I owned years ago which I really enjoined also. I forgot the name though and have no idea what happen to it. It was a Kart game with Japanese music.

that's in no particular order, i probably have more that i'm forgetting about but these are the ones i can remember right now. theres like the arcade games like sega rally, but i can't remember the ones i found truly awesome.

I'll do two catergories, too many noob racers in here :P

Arcade Racers:

1. Burnout Paradise - It was so good, I completed it at a mates house before I got a chance to buy it.

2. Star Wars Racers (N64) - One of the best buy and upgrade, arcade racers ever made.

3. Outrun 2 - Only if play on an arcade machine.

4. Mario Kart - all are good, ones to note are DS version and N64 version though.

5. F-Zero X (N64) - Ultimate fast pace arcade racer.

6. I really wanted to put this in, but Wipeout 64 was awesome! Both lists are in no particular order.

Sim Racers:

1. GT3 - best GT so far

2. Toca Racer - I had this on PC. One of the first sim racers made.

3. GTR2 - Porbably the best sim racer there is.

4. Ferrari F355 Challenge - Should be played only on arcade machine with clutch and no assists.

5. I guess it'd be Forza 2.

After reading this thread, i can't believe how so many people can put up with just poor driving mechanics. PGR is not good. I'm glad nobody has said Fuel, cos that game was awful, or any motorbike racing games such as MotoGP, but SBK is somewhat tolerated.

GT4 is by far the most enjoyable game to drive with a steering wheel. GPL is just hardcore and if you haven't played it then you should. GTR 2 is by far the most realistic racing game I've ever played. F1 because I'm a lifelong fan and racing the tracks, cars, and drivers is extreme fan service. As much as I hate watching NASCAR, racing it is pretty fun. Like GPL, it also has a lot of content and community support.

NFS was a great series back in the day before EA started to exploit it. The PC versions were all superior to their console counterparts too, especially Porsche Unleashed.
