I thought this list was pretty much perfect especially the top 5.

3. Steamworld Dig
4. Pokemon X
5. Grid 2
TLOU

The only games I extensively played in 2013. Best games of the year too
how can you personally know those are the best games of the year when they are the only ones you really played? you're basically saying your opinions depend on what others are saying
Don't think I've played ten games from the year 2013. My favs from this year are Shin Megami tensei IV and Fire Emblem Awakening. Both are great in their own ways.
@ drummerdave9099
Those weren't the only games i played. I said they were the only games i EXTENSIVELY played this year. I played others such as Metal gear rising and BF4.
I said they are the best games of the year according to Metacritic
TLOU-95
GTA5-97
Not sure what AC4 is but it got a 9 here so it must be one of the better games of 2013.
Any thoughts on the list linked I love that DOTA2 made the list
Can you write it in text form, please? The site is being bitchy for me.
Dota 2 was GOTY, in my opinion.

The Wolf Among Us
The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us made your list with one episode each?
2013 was really an impressive year for games. Looking at all the high quality games across every platform it could arguably be the best considered the best year of the generation.
I still haven't started on:
Papers Please, The Stanley Parable, Guacamelee!, Gone Home, Ni No Kuni, and StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm.
I own and played some GTAV but got distracted by other games.
Even though I haven't played Saints Row 4 yet (I am waiting for a complete edition with all the DLC as I only like buying something if it is physical), it is nice to see a game put on the list because of gameplay as sadly all anyone cares about nowadays is the story, regardless if the game is fun or not (I would bet all of my life savings that Mass Effect 2 would not have gotten half the praise it got if critics still cared for gameplay). While I believe that Grand Theft Auto V should be in the number one spot, I am happy that he said that fun gameplay made up for the story not being as good as GTA IV's, unlike other reviews and top games lists where the critic would have a cry in the corner because of the story. As much as I love The Last of Us and thinks it deserves every bit of praise it gets, I don't see how it, or any game, can top Grand Theft Auto V. And one more thing, where the bloody hell is Tomb Raider?
My Top 3:
All three of those games deserve a 10/10 score.

Tomb Raider was great I listened to their podcast and it almost made it but then they remembered Dota 2. Entertaining stuff
4 replies have mentioned Dragon's Crown. As someone who thinks they follow gaming closely, I can't believe I've never heard of it.
The lack of Metal Gear Rising love is disappointing.
People don't know excellent games when they hit them in the face.
10. Tomb Raider
9. Pokemon X
8. Rayman Legends
7. Fire Emblem Awakening
6. Bioshock Infinite
5. Super Mario 3D World
4. ACIV
3. GTAV
2. Zelda A Link Between Worlds
1. The Last of Us

Do you have to have played the other MGS games?
**** no. The story is completely throwaway, it's just there to progress the game from area to area (and there are some references to MGS4, but it's unnecessary to know about them to enjoy the game itself, maybe just watch the opening sequence of MGS4 I guess). I haven't finished it yet, but my god, the first 15 minutes are more action-packed than any other game I've played last gen other than maybe Vanquish. And the mechanics are incredibly tight.
I kind of wish Kojima would have let Platinum work on MGS4 with them. They know how to do ridiculous MGS really, really well.

Play Bayonetta
Play Bayonetta
I have. It was enjoyable. I am looking forward to the sequel.
I keep meaning to play it again. But I've got a backlog that is only growing.

I played Bayonetta right before playing DMC man that ruined DMC for me lol

I'd love to see that said with a straight face.
My favorites this year were as follows: TLOU, Mario 3D World, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (Don't judge me lol), Dead Rising 3 (so much fun) and Tomb Raider.

The story is amazing on the simple premise that it treats MGS lore with exactly the kind of respect it deserves: None what so ever. Senator Armstrong is the shit. That guy, too hype for this world.
Only listing games I played:
Bioshock Infinite
The Last of Us
Tearaway
Resogun
Assassin's Creed IV
The Stanley Parable
Starcraft 2: HotS
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
Dragon's Crown
Battlefield 4 (if it'd work, dammit)
Considered filling slots for both Path of Exile and DOTA 2, but they've been out in beta for a while now and their "official" launches didn't really feel like new games.
TLoU won, list ok with me. But Pokemon, really? Same reskinned game again.
1. All X1 exclusives (cant separate them when they are this good)
2. GTAV
3. Monkey Poo
Why list one and then three? Isn't that a little redundant?

I'm cracking up right now just reading it in the quote!
DOTA 2 is like the only game I've played this year that came out this year. It shouldn't even be considered a 2013 game, the beta started in like 2010 or 11 and had the same graphical fidelity and game mechanics.
I don't really know why people buy games upon release. I was on the GTAV hype train too, but it didn't come out on PC which meant that I wouldn't buy it no matter what (until a PC release comes). I have a ps3 but I don't buy games because I'm excited for them, I buy them because they are worth purchasing.
