Top things the PS3 needs before it is real competition to the 360

Price- It needs a price drop to at the very least $500 but $400 would be much better

Games- Even the most hardcore playstation fans can tell you that there is not a great selection of games out for the PS3 right now. At least not enough to compete with the 360.

Blu-Ray Movies- Ya that's right Blu-Ray movies, You may not be a movie kind of person but there are more movie watchers then there are gamers. More movies need to be released on Blu-Ray not only to help push the PS3 even more but to help make the lead vs HD-DVD even bigger.

Dowloadable Content- Face it the PS3 has crap for downloads compared to the 360. The PS3 is getting Home which is going to be awesome but it still needs more than just a MMO gamespace. But hey it's free not really much to complain about there.

Rumble enabled controllers- The PS3 needs rumble controllers included with the system

Headset included with the system- This way it will give users easier access to voice chat

Price- Price is fine for the 60 gig console. It's practically a bargain for all the stuff included with it. The problem is that the gamer doesn't care about playing blu-ray movies; the gamer cares about great looking games. The PS3 needs to surpass or at least equal GEOW in order to bring the gamers in.

Games- Games are coming. In fact, there's going to be such a cluster of games available soon that most people won't buy able to afford them all. ANy new owner should have their hands full with the current library until the fall/winter games come.

Blu-Ray Movies-Blu-ray is actually a major selling point for the PS3. It's one of the cheaper blu-ray players on the market and it's a Sony machine so it's not like it's some brand x player. More movies are available on Blu-ray and more are coming. I can't wait for the Matrix trilogy to make it's way to Blu-ray (if that ever happens).

Dowloadable Content- Face it, XBL took time to become what it is. Face it, XBL is not a free service. If I was paying 60 bucks a year to enjoy it, I'd expect a lot out of it. PSN is free. They're improving it but all you people that hark on how generic it is and how lacking it is of demos need to realize you are enjoying it for free. PSN is the least of my concerns. As long as I can add friends, play online with them, and see when they're online..I'm happy. I just want Sony to add something that will let me meet up with my friends in-game. Especially in RFOM.

Rumble enabled controllers- Jeez you have a lot of wants. Rumble is missed but it may not be coming back. There are rumors right now but MS had a contract with Immersion with the effect of keeping rumble to 360. I miss rumble too but I expect it to return in some way, shape, or form. That doesn't mean it should be included with the system. They should, however, include a headset.

Headset included with the system-I agree with you on this. It would eliminate any confusion as to which headset one should buy.

I own a PS3 and I really dig it. The thing I most want is a streamlined and unified online service to match my 360's. The online play itself on things like Resistance is superb and virtually lag free, but I need things like easy in game voice messaging, unified, universaland easy to use/access friends list, etc. I like the fact that the wireless adapter is built into the PS3 and the account was free, and easy to set up (didn't even need to give a credit card since I didn't plan on buying anything from the store,) but the things I listed are the backbone of a good online service, really. The need to be firmly in place. EDIT: This isn't really the fault of the PS3 so much as it is of the players but I wish more people were mic'ed. On Live practically everyone is mic'ed, on the PS3 it seems to be the reverse. More PS3 players need to get mics. Makes online way better when most people have them, especially team-based play.

That's the only real gripe I have so far... other than that it's been pretty smooth sailing for me.

And of course, MORE GOOD GAMES..... but those will come in time.

Where Microsoft actually talked with developers and ask them want they wanted then created a balanced system for them to work on rather then the Sony approach which they put what ever tech they wanted in there and told developers to shut up and deal with it We are Sony!!!

Most Cows where think that Devs have yet to figure out the superior super complex hardware of the Ps3 yet fact is its just not a good system forgame design. It has an unproven CPU that wasn't even designed for gaming and an off the shelf GPU that was stuck in last minute when they figured out that the Cell wasn't powerful enough to do the graphics. The ram is not as flexible as the 360's and Blue ray was obviously put there to use PlayStation fans as pawns to help win a format war. The PS3 is just a bad joke.

Both the Xbox360, and PS3 are competing in HD gaming, the Xbox360 is PS3 competition and at this time the xbox360 has the larger userbase.

Nintendo has said it themselfs, they are not competing with the xbox360, or ps3.

You make it sound like SCEI's entire R&D department is a bunch of accountants that think big statistics make a quality piece of hardware. I seriously doubt that the engineers that work for Sony were trying to make a huge joke or just stick into the system what stockholders felt would be best. But seriously, how many people that are actually in these research fields try to produce unworkable pieces of crud. All the engineers and computer designers I know (which numbers at leat into the twenties) are all perfectionists and anal retentive as a general rule. So I find your accusations against these professionals (which are probably some of the best eduacted individuals on the planet) unfair and uncalled for. Not only taht you, like so many others have prematurely decided the fate of the ps3. While I won't say your flat out wrong, your premise is definitely unproven. Personally I try to avoid making statements that may later force me to eat my words.

On topic, Iguress this list is good, but it's also redundant. Most ps3 users and owners have known this for a while. Though I personally don't care about rumble or headsets and don't think they would make a reasonable difference in the success of the system.

I agree pretty much on almost all points there. Except that there are good games out right now, just lots of them can be played on the 360 also, that's all.

Gears pretty much replaced Halo (for the time being atleast) and is the definitive game of this gen right now. So to say it didn't have any help would be wrong. I mean the 360 sales before Gears were exteremly underwhelming and after they took an insane spike.

games. a $100 price drop will make it like launch day all over again. lol
