Hey guys, I'm thinking about pre-ordering BlackOps but IDK which version is the best for me.

Well, heres the good stuff in the PC side:

-A good gaming rig(see sig for more details)

-Dedicated servers + ModTools(correct me if I'm wrong)

-Higher resolution than what my PS3 has(playing on a 1080p HDTV but the max resolution for the game its 720p so 1680x1050>1280x720

-Mouse and keyboard(I think it gives more precision, I heard that somewhere)

And heres the good points for the PS3:

-more confortable(you can just lie down on your sofa and play the game)

-bigger screen(compared to my monitor, my HDTV has a bigger screen)

-PS3 controller,well the DUALSHOCK 3

-Friends(I got alredy alot of friends who pre-ordered the game)

So, as you see, its pretty much balanced, tough decision to make. Which one should I go with?

He meant what system he should get it on, if he only has a PC and PS3 then he would ask that...

I would get the PC version of course. Better features take the cake for me. You can always make new friends, I would love to play :). Besides you can hook that PC up to your TV.

Damn.

It's up to you.

If you have more friends on PS3, then by all means, get it, but if you want it on PC, then get it on PC.

a PC can be used in conjunction with a big TV screen and a comfortable couch, and you could use a Dualshock 3 as the controller.

It also makes any game fun to play. Besides, that's like the ONLY reason to play Cod IMO.

Well cause he's not gona sit around counting pixels as long as it has good lighting, decent textures, high fps, and no screen tearing there isn't much need to play the "Better Version." Unless you want to trade friends for pixels.

Unless you plan on hardcore gaming on the dedicated servers you pay for, I'd suggest PS3 simply because splitscreen is such a major part of the series. Black Ops is actually introducing split screen online, so there's that.

Probaly PC if your PC can run it better then a PS3. PS3 if you have more friends youll paly with on that. Honestly, with all this 360 badcking teh game is getting, youd think its a exclusvie to 360. But no, itll be perfectly fine on any of the platforms.

You should also probably consider how well each version of the game will hold up in the long run.

Say you choose one verson for friends: you get to play with them and have a good time, but hypothetically speaking (meaning it may or may not happen), what happens if your friends stop playing the game or moves on to a different one? The value you place on the game may go down because it was your friends that made the game for you. I'm not trying to make this a bad choice or situation nor am I trying to make a choice for friends look bad. If want to continue playing even without your friends, but want to enjoy it with them for as long as possible, then you can buy the PS3 version.

With the PC version, you can include a choice of controls (KB/M or Dualshock) and the use of dedicated servers which will prevent host advantage (as you said in your OP). If you like the controls better, want a better connection, and you are not all that worried about not playing with friends, then you can buy the PC version. [If you feel you need to, you can always hook your PC to your HDTV one day].

It depends on how you feel. Each version of the game will play the same. If you are determined to have a good time with friends, then you can buy the PS3 version. If you do not mind not playing with your friends and feel you want a better connection, then you can buy the PC version.

Where would the game be without your mates? On a shelf in a store.... PS3 wins due to friends having it too... kinda like how the xbox won.

Well controllers don't tend to work with those games on PC. He'd get pwnt in multiplayer.

I'm just going along with his little 'I think M/KB gives a little more precision, I heard that somewhere'

Alright guys, I've read all your replies and I've come to a conclusion that I will buy it on the ps3 BUT if I ever regret it, I'll sell it for about 40 dollars and get the PC version instead. The reason why I'm buying the console version first it's because I can sell it anytime unlike the PC version where you have a serial key, etc. Thanks.

EDIT: NVM I'm getting the PC version.

If you buy it on console you're gonna wish you got the PC version. Trying to play a game like that with a controller just feels retarded. I can understand wanting to get the PS3 version if you have a bunch of friends playing, but if they're really not friends and just acquaintances, then you can make new and better ones on the PC. :D

I bought MW2 first for 360 and after a while ended up getting the PC version.. now I hardly ever play it on 360. I mean, I can barely stand the hackers and the lag, but it still seems much better despite its own issues. With dedicated servers, Black Ops shouldn't have as large a hacker problem as MW2 did.

Well the only advantage the PS3 would have in that situation is friends. So it's your choice, friends or a better version.

Explain to me how its balanced when the PC also has the 1st three good points on the PS3?

Or can you not lay down and play PC gaming? Can you not plug a PC into your HDTV? Can you not use a PS3 controller on a PC?

Arach666

the main problem is you cant play online with the dual shock 3 in any competitive fashion. You can do that on the PS3.

I also prefer the online communities of consoles.

these are all preferences and am in no way trying to say shooters are better on consoles. But I do tend to prefer playing them on consoles.

Why would you want to play on consoles lame resolution of 720P when you could play it in glorious HD 1080P on the PC. You could just buy a Xbox 360 gamepad for the PC, I know people who do use it for the PC.
