Xbox 360

360 Premium $399
Comes with component cables
1 wireless controller
1 month of XBL gold free
1 wired headset
1 lan cable
20 Gb HDD
DVD Player

PS3 60 Gb model
Comes with RCA cables
1 wireless controller
1 USB cable to charge the controller
Lifetime of free PSN play
Blue Tooth compatibility for headsets or whatever
Built in wireless
60 Gb HDD
Blu Ray DVD player
Memory Stick, Secure Digital and CompactFlash media card slots
HDMI output
DTS 5.1 as well as uncompressed audio up to 7.1

Ok with the 360 you have to buy a plug n play at 19.99 to charge the batteries of the controller while the PS3 has a built in battery that’s recharged with the USB cable provided. The PS3 fully supports the HD era with HDMI output which supports up to 1080i, DTS audio and even uncompressed audio. This means that if your audio receiver has HDMI inputs and output you can enjoy audio, video to its fullest capabilities.

Just to get close to what the PS3 offers here what you’ll need to spend

$399.99 360 Premium
$19.99 Plug n Play adapter
$99.99 WiFi adapter
519.97 for Xox 360 without HD DVD
+199.99 HD DVD drive still no HDMI

719.96 For Xbox 360 w/ HDD

PS3 costs 599.99 + 28-59.99 for an HDMI make the PS3 $659.98 plus you get 40 gb more HDD, Bluetooth, Memor card reader instead of proprietary memory cards the Hard drive on the PS3 is also swappable with any 2.5” SATA HDD while the 360 must use either the more costly and slower proprietary or external HDD. Also for a headset I just use my Motorola H700. Who would've imagined that Sony would make somtn that could be so well integrated with out haveing to go buy a bunch of proprietary products .

I am not a fan boy of Sony I have owned all past and current consoles except the Wii and just thought an honest comparison of the two consoles would be noteworthy the PS3 still has a few advantages over the 360 that I did not go into but as far as all practical purposes are concerned the PS3 is the better Console this time around.

wait, i didnt know this, the PS3 only comes with RCA cables? wtf, its a HD SYSTEM the least they could do is pack in components!! and i really dont want a blue ray/HDDVD player( yet anyways, upscaled DVDs look fantastic), so i think that argument is moot for many people.

yes it only comes with RCA but the final cost is still very close even with the extra cost of an HDMI wich most PS3 users will use. Yet I agree they shoulda sent it with Components as well.

Half of the stuff you listed for PS3 is features of the console not what it comes with. Shoot you might as well list some of 360s media features, infared, RF, Built in Media Extender, etc. Plus listing battery charger is pretty lame. You might as well list that you will need to buy new PS3 controllers when rumble comes out if that is the case.

The HD-DVD player on the 360 is used for watching movies only...so why even include it in your arguement?

I like these threads because when a blu-ray player comes out and it cost like $300, PS3 sales will drop off even more than they are now.

I guess the argument is simply that the PS3 is more equiped to handle the fully HD compatable audio video setup
1080p + uncompressed Audio format

So where are the specs for the system that is currently outselling both of those systems put together.  I'll add them for you:

Wii:

Way more fun than PS3

Doesn't play movies

Doesn't cost $600

I have yet to see a topic title with either the word "truth" or "fact" in it that ever actually had either truth or facts in the actual topic.

I own both of the consoles, and I even found this to be stupid. I only paid $400 for my 360, just $400, no more, and actually 1 cent less. Didn't buy the recharger to begin with, the controllers come with batteries (lasted me through my first week and a half), and my bundle came with PGR3. All set to play a game, I even got started on XBL because it came with the headset and the cord. Now my PS3 cost me $600 up front, but to begin playing a game I had to pay an extra $60 for Resistance. Got started playing online and it was great. Let's add up my totals to play the games on either system, shall we?

Xbox 360: $400

PS3: $660

These are gaming consoles, and I don't need to buy a recharger, or an HD-DVD player for my 360. I did buy the recharger but later on down the road. To play the games, the 360 is cheaper, and I own a PS3, and unless I wish to turn my 360 in to a media device like mye PS3, it is the cheaper system. I love my PS3, and Blu-Ray is great, better than HD-DVD, but it is the more expensive gaming console.

Console hardware comparisons are totally irrelevant. They truly are. What matters is the games and what lineup interests you more. If a buyer is going to limit themselves to one console, why would they buy an Xbox 360 if they are a fan of Final Fantasy games, or....why would somebody buy a PS3 if they love Halo?

What makes a game console a good one is the perception of what titles that cater to your tastes more, it's as simple as that.

I hope you realize these ridiculous price comparisons are now considered "spam" and are reportable. Better fanboys then you have made them in the past to the point of nausea. All you're doing is spin spin spinning

Holy freak, so many of you see a fan boy under every rock. I am merely pointing out that the PS3 three offers more for the buck.

I have had 3 360's and will get another when they stop having the 3 red light  problem cause there are some great games for it. Yet, I unlike some not all but only unlike some of you am glad they are making these newer consoles something that can be fully integrated into an high end audio and video system I have vested some considerable assets into my own system and the PS3 is the only console that supports 1080p, DTS 5.1 and even uncompressed audio. Thus, making it a better deal and as for WiFi and an BluRay player for 1080p movies and uncompressed audio this PS3 really makes my entertainment System shine.

call me a fan boy I dont care. I am simply sharing my lowly opinion.

So wait...they have to spend $200 on a crappy next-gen DVD player, when by the time there are enough movies out on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray to make the players worth the investment, the machines will only be like $100?
