If u think about it though....hasn't Nintendo always been about the casual gamer? It wasn't until sony came around when consoles started releasing games for the hardcore peeps. I think it's important for Nintendo to stay casual. We have pc, xbone, and playstations for the hardcore fans. The only bad part about this is that it means the NX will probably be a secondary console like the Wii was. Nintendo knew and spoke out that they expected every Wii owner to own either a 360 or ps3 as well. Nintendo won that battle cuz everyone owned a wii and the hardcore sales for split in half pretty much between ps3 and 360.

@lunar1122: Wii, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 all over 80 million units sold. Even the portable consoles that gen PlayStation Portable and Nintendo Ds both sold over 80 million units.

So you're totally wrong.

@emgesp: well on here people will call the Wii owners casual gamers due to console owners playing just Wii Sports.

There's people that bought the Ps2 that didn't even know it was a games console. They thought it was a Dvd player. In the first year of its release it sold more bundles with Dvd's than games in Japan. The electronics companies were promoting it based on it being the cheapest Dvd player on the market.

You seem to have a very warped view about who/what is hardcore and casual.

Don't confuse Nintendo's family friendly image with simplicity. You can judge third party titles however, but when comparing Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft games, Nintendo games have more depth and variety in gameplay than the competition. Microsoft games are usually pick up and play console shooters, and Sony games are often cinematic qte events or simple button mashers.

In this thread an overuse of the words "casual" and "enthusiast". You're all wrong, like equally.

On topic: Nothing wrong with Nintendo aiming for a broader audience, a hardware needs a broader audience. Nintendo's problem isn't just hardware, it's software. And their hardware has limited the type of software they get on some level, and their own software is the same old tried and true franchises. Mario's hey day of moving machines is sort of long gone, it's time Nintendo got some new stars.

Appealing to casuals doesn't mean it won't get quality AAA 3rd party software. It's possible to get both. We'll have a better idea of whether NX will achieve both once it is unveiled.

I don't care, Nintendo premium priced box for only Nintendo games is a poor value. Look at the still $299 Wii U, it's a bad joke.
