Ubisoft seems to love what they see. This might mean something good. Hopefully the NX will be good. This is a long interview about the NX.

Ubisoft CEO Says NX Is A “Fantastic Machine” and “It’s Really A New Approach”

In a recent interview with GameSpot, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot offered his opinion on Nintendo’s upcoming console.

“The new Nintendo [console] is a fantastic machine. It’s really a new approach, it’s really Nintendo, [which is] coming with something new again. We love it.”

Guillemot also advised that Ubisoft are “working on some [other] projects” for the NX, but did not elaborate further on what this would entail.

GameSpot also asked Guillemot why the company had so much faith in Nintendo and he advised about the effect new systems have on consumers:

“What we see is, players are more open when new hardware is coming. So we have the chance to come with something we have never done before, because we know that if we are the first there, people will try our game and maybe we’ll be able to get into that new genre,” he explained. “As our people wanted to do a game like ZombiU, they were happy they could just use the Wii U to do it. For us, a machine is a tool of expression, but when everything become stable it’s less open to innovation. We always want innovation.”

“However, if you try something a little new and it’s not perfect, you come back quickly to what you know and works. As a gamer, if you change to new hardware, you have no references, so you’re looking at what people are saying are [the best games] and then trying them.”

“But if you have an [established] machine and there’s all the experiences you know on there already, you know you’re going to miss some of those to try something new, so you’re less inclined. For us, we know opportunities to try something new are a lot more rewarding when it’s a new machine.”

You can check out the full interview over on GameSpot’s website here.

Would be cool for them to make a new appealing IP for NX. I like that theyre going to try again. I wish them success this time.

If Ubisoft is excited, it's probably a bad sign.

When was the last time Ubishit did not praise a brand new Nintendo console? They're the ones that praise it the most and then leave it behind as soon as they see their games doing poorly. They'll be praising it as much as Activision praises their Call of Dooty but when their Just Dance or whatever other garbage coming to the NX fails to sell, they'll abandon the sinking ship faster than the exclusives abandoned the Xbox One.

@aigis: Me either, thats why i wish them better success than last time. But im pretty sure were getting same games as PC, etc.

For Honor might be cool for NX. Steep sounded cool, but it disappeared. That South Park game would be cool too.

Whatever they do, it needs to launch at the same time and not be a weak release. None of that, "hey, heres that old game yall like on other platforms."

We've done this dance with Ubisoft before regarding Nintendo consoles...

Hell the language they use is basically identical.

This is PR bullshit. That's all. Sorry TC.

@iandizion713: depends how powerful its going to be and how much time they have had to work with the nx. I can see it going as a new ip the way of Zombie and some ports of something, maybe watch dogs 2 or a similar high profile game. For Honor and Steep just dont seem to be the experiment game for ubisoft to me, they will probably want to do something more tried to compare

@aigis: That would be a waste for them though. Game development cost too much for them to be trying to release exclusives. Plus would make people upset. People will want multiplats from Ubisoft like Watch Dogs 2, South Park, Just Dance, Assassins Creed and For Honor.

If they release games on all platforms at same time, then advertising is much easier cause all companies will be promoting at same time.

How it turned out? They were one of the biggest third parties on board the first year of the Wii U's life, they jumped off when the system utterly tanked, understandably. They gave some great support on Wii too (Red Steel 2 is one of the games that validates the existence of motion controls), so I'm glad to see they're supporting NX too. I hope it doesn't tank so their continued investment in Nintendo platforms will be rewarded.

Ubisoft was also one of the few devs who where excited by the Wii U, in the run up to launch, and look what we got from them. A bad port of AC3, a generic mediocre zombie game, and an exclusive Rayman game that ended up only been an exclusive demo for a Rayman game.

Said that with the Wii then they gave us Red Steels... Then said the same thing about Wii U and gave us ZombiU.

With that kind of a roll I don't really care what Ubisoft says or has in the works for a new Nintendo console.

Well, this is no surprise that a publisher/developer is praising a console their game is going to be released on.

I won't put any trust in these kind of praise and I know others don't also. But putting aside the PR stuffs, I am really curious and excited on what Nintendo has up their sleeves. For me, Nintendo is a box full of surprises.

Its true that the Wii U was a big failure for Nintendo, and many good reasons why. But I enjoyed the console and the games it had, just sad that Nintendo couldn't bring out its full potential and support it could have gotten.

As for the NX, I just hope Nintendo really learned from their mistakes and make the NX a success.

And also a desire for the NX is...please make the games region free for it

@iandizion713: that is true, Nintendo for most of their recent systems (Wii, 3DS, and Wii U) all had a terrible start. And to make it worse, the Wii U stayed there with a slow pace game release.

it will be fun to see what kind of gimmicks (not meaning in a bad way, I find these gimmicks entertaining and enjoyable) Nintendo has implemented on the NX and how their games will make use of them. Since Nintendo's motto is for their consumers to enjoy their games in unique ways

ubisoft taking a bit too much flack here.

in their defence they had one of the best uses, if not the best use, for the gamepad at launch with zombiu. it still remains one of the best uses of it to this day. its just that it sold like crap (3rd party games doing poorly on nintendo platforms shocker) and people still didnt know what to make of the wiiu.

ubisoft have generally been good at making use of the unique aspects of nitnendo consoles. but nintendo will need to share the risk with them for future titles im sure (by the sound sof it multiplats are a non runner).

he is also correct...the best time to try new IP and new ideas is when a new console launches.

System Wars would be a little more entertaining if the NX was a success.

I remember back in the days during the Wii era how many sheep were here. Constantly gloating about Wii and DS sales.

But ever since the Wii U flopped hard, the majority of the Sheep vanished from System Wars.

It made things a little more boring and repetitive around here with just Cows and Lems arguing back and forth.

And Hermits occasionally butting into the conversations to remind everything that they're the Master Race and to not forget about them.

I don't think Ubisoft could have supported the Wii U any better than they did. They are a 3rd party company. They hung around as long as they did when the ship is badly sinking and most of all, they made it count for something, support then just abandon ship all together.

Not their fault Nintendo struggle selling Wii U in the process.
