That is right, Ubisoft ye Updatet again fails(well... maybe... we will see if these specs are true) to properly port a game to the PC.

Assassins Creed for the PC has rumored Recommended Specs as follows.

Intel Core 2 Duo, or better processor

3 GB System RAM

ATI HD2900 series, Nvidia GeForce 8800 series, or better video card

5.1 sound card

Microsoft Xbox 360 controller

... Sorry, but if this is true, Ubisoft deserves to be locked up and beaten(everyone working there).

http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/36198/PCs-Explode-Assassins-Creed-Requirements-Revealed

http://exophase.com/pc/rumor-assassins-creed-pc-system-requirements-3054.htm

edit - Let me clarify. these are only RUMORED specs. I personally think they aren't correct but then again, this is Ubisoft. Only time will tell I guess.

UPDATE: This rumor IS correct. Ubisoft is now proposterously hopeless.

Source

actual Minimum Specs are

Supported OS: Windows XP / Vista (only)
Processor: Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or better recommended)
RAM: 2 GB (3 GB recommended)
Video Card: 256 MB DirectX 10.0-compliant video card or DirectX 9.0-compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (512 MB video card recommended) (see supported list)*
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0 or 10.0 compliant sound card (5.1 sound card recommended)
DirectX Version: DirectX 10.0 libraries (included on disc)
DVD-ROM: DVD-ROM dual-layer drive
Hard Drive Space: 12 GB
Peripherals Supported: Keyboard, mouse, optional controller (Xbox 360 Controller for Windows recommended)

*Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:
ATI RADEON X1300-1950 / HD 2000 / 3000 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6600-6800 / 7 / 8 / 9 series

Recommended specs above were true (as you can see by some of the parentheses.)

Intel Pentium core 2 duo... yeah sounds about right, since pentium and core 2 duo are very different.

6 months ago, those specs were pretty much the best that could be purchased. It's higher than what most people here use.

those are higher than Crysis' recommended specs.

the required specs are also higher than Crysis require specs.

* Windows XP or Vista
* 2 GB RAM
* Dual core processor (Intel Pentium D or better)
* 256MB Direct3D 10 compatible video card, or Direct3D 9 card compatible with Shader Model 3.0 or higher
* DirectX compatible driver
* DVD-ROM dual-layer drive
* 16 GB free hard disk space

16GB of HD Space.... WTF are they doing? Put "stuff" on my PC? And you should know what I mean by "stuff."

I didnt know that was higher than Crysis.

Still, if the game running on Xbox 360 and PS3 is running on multiple cores, I would think the same should be for PC in order to stream those huge levels.
Not to pick on PC, but this is why many console people picked consoles. Just buy the game, put it in the drive, and play. What we lose in mods and future upgrades, we also have piece of mind when it comes to many games.

no, this is Ubisoft being lazy. If you can run CoD4 or UT3, you should have been able to run this JUST FINE. but Ubisoft seems to give the PC the finger with every port it does.

who cares. looks great on consoles. looks at the reviews. the graphics are beautiful. big worlds, no slowdown, the cities are packed with people. all on 512 ram and $400, not at least a grand.

what? Because Ubisoft puts as much effort into porting their games to the PC as my dog takes at not crapping on the floor (which isn't any at all).

A reliable anonymous source has sent along details on the system requirements for the PC release of Assassin's Creed. The specs look rather demanding and it's clear that you'll need a Crysis-capable PC to run Assassin's Creed in its full glory on PC.

It must be the same reliable source that had ps3 owners hypes for Crysis coming to ps3.

i posted the recommended specs. Did I say required? wait... lemme go check

edit - no... I was correct. The recommended specs were correct. Core 2 Duo recommended, 3GB of RAM recommended(this was the part that was proposterous). They seem to be refusing to specify actual card for recommended but I imagine it is the 8800.

Is there no limit to the epic failings of Ubisoft?

Didn't they say a while back that they were making FarCry 2 to boost their reputation amongst the PC gaming crowd?

How about they give us some decent ports instead of screwing around and giving us this kind of crap? :|

Considering that the game runs on the 360 I would have expeceted a minimum specs along the linges of

Amd 64 3400+ Equivalent or better ( AMD 64 4200+ Or equivalent reccomended)

1 Gig Ram ( 2Gig Reccomended)

256MB DX9 Compatable Video Card ( Geforece 8 series for DX10)

But then agian, my recet experiences with Ubi PC ports havent been that great.

Pathetic. Lazy devs that can't optimize to save their life.

Then again, the game isn't worth buying to begin with, so what's the point?

Like I said, the only part in all of this that was particularly full of fail was the required 2GB and Recommended 3GB.... I mean seriously... A freaking high school student could optimize the engine to use the RAM more efficiently than that...

well... Ubisoft released the specs officially today.

Source

seems it WAS correct.

Supported OS: Windows XP / Vista (only)
Processor: Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or better recommended)
RAM: 2 GB (3 GB recommended)
Video Card: 256 MB DirectX 10.0-compliant video card or DirectX 9.0-compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (512 MB video card recommended) (see supported list)*
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0 or 10.0 compliant sound card (5.1 sound card recommended)
DirectX Version: DirectX 10.0 libraries (included on disc)
DVD-ROM: DVD-ROM dual-layer drive
Hard Drive Space: 12 GB
Peripherals Supported: Keyboard, mouse, optional controller (Xbox 360 Controller for Windows recommended)

the only thing wrong was the HDD space... only 12 GB....

horrowhip

The whole CPU and GPU were wrong... as in I don't see 8800 required to play.

i posted the recommended specs.

Intel pentium core 2 duo? that's not even a processor, that's 2 different CPU. And the new recommended from ubi just stated you can play with a penitum d or athlon x2... wich are both weaker then core 2 duo.

from the source :

*Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:
ATI RADEON X1300-1950 / HD 2000 / 3000 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6600-6800 / 7 / 8 / 9 series

So where does it say 8800 required again? All it says in the specs is 256 MB DirectX 10.0-compliant video card or DirectX 9.0-compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (512 MB video card recommended) (see supported list)*

Like I said, the only part in all of this that was particularly full of fail was the required 2GB and Recommended 3GB.... I mean seriously... A freaking high school student could optimize the engine to use the RAM more efficiently than that...horrowhip
Well it's for Vista me thinks, it's already common that games have had different ram requirements under XP and Vista, I would expect it to be fully playable with 2Gb under XP ..then again it's Ubi so who knows, sometimes there truly seems to be no limit to their incompetence.
