As you all may know I Am Alive been in development for so long many thought it was cancelled but only recetnly is when Ubisoft confirmed the game to be releasing very soon for the PS3 and Xbox360 via their networks which left few PC gamers wonder, when is the PC release? now wonder no more as Ubisoft confirm there will be no PC version :o.. why you may ask? due to too much piracy on PC.

Ubisoft dude says:"We've heard loud and clear that PC gamers are ( not so good word ) about there being no version for them," Mettra said to IncGamers. "But are these people just making noise just because there's no version or because it's a game they actually want to play? Would they buy it if we made it?"

Mettra continued that if 50,000 PC players buy the game it's not worth the cost of putting a team of 12 on the project for three months. He continued, "It's hard because there's so much piracy and so few people are paying for PC games that we have to precisely weigh it up against the cost of making it."

For more news or to complain head to Ubisofts website/facebook/youtube/google/or any site available

PC has too much piracy so no games link

It's true, there is no way to sell downloadable games on PC these days, it's just impossible, no one has made any money off it, not worth the effort.

What a douchebag.

The guy is completley ignorant of the PC market.

... or maybe not. Maybe he realises his pice of **** game isn't going to fool any PC gamers.

Ubisoft gimps their game with DRM that hinders only the customer.

Pirates gonna pirate.

Real customers get screwed over by Ubisoft.

Real customers can not play the game and have to resort to piracy in order to play it.

Real customers learns about Ubisoft DRM and avoids any future title from Ubisoft.

Ubisoft whines about piracy and how they're losing sales from it.

Ubisoft releases more obnoxious DRM to screw over their remaining customers.

The cycle continues.

This is the same company that came out and admitted that with their DRM service they saw both a decrease in piracy rates, and a decrease in legit sales.

Seems they don't really know much about releasing games on the PC.

Good. It's a good thing that the devs are starting to do this kind of thing, now maybe hermits will stop pirating.

I'm on the fence with this game. It sounds really good but I haven't seen any gameplay footage at all so it makes me think they're hiding something. Anxiously awaiting reviews.

He blames piracy, which is fine, it's their product. Yet he states about only 50,000 people purchasing it. I think that would entail the quality of the game as well. If the sales are low, it could likely be due to people not wanting the game.

Sorry Ubisoft, won't buy it on any system you put it on. You had such a great premise but now it looks like crap.

Haven't you realised? We as the consumers have to bend over and take whatever the corporations give to us! It is our duty to be mindless wallets on legs that throws money at any remotely shiny object.

I think there ought to be a legislation against not buying every piece of entertainment.

Maybe you should look at the sales of TW2 that sold 1M copies(and counting) in less than two months withouth any drm lol.

Indeed. We should know that everybody wants to buy the game, it's just that if nobody does, it was clearly due to piracy

I have a feeling Ubisoft is completely disconnected from the outside world.

They never read gaming news, or track sales of other titles to see how well theirs will fare.

It'd be really hard to be this oblivious.

More than likely he knows the game isn't that good and is wiling to bet that is ell more on the consoles than the PC. But piracy is everywhere, from music, to Pc titles to PS3 titles. The best any company can do is try to minimalize the loss they incur.

Sometimes i wonder, is piracy is the real issue here??? i mean every 10 year old kid know how to flash his xbox 360 and i bet there is even amount of piracy on XBOX 360 as we speak than PC if not more, yet they still develop the same games on that console.

No gentlemen, piracy is not the issue here....

The issue Ubisoft has stems from the fact that they expect consoles games to sell on the PC, and they also expect DRM to go over well with legit buyers.

Not every 10 year old knows how to do that. Furthermore, where did you ascertain the information to draw such a conclusion?

It's a download-only game, so adjust your price down to $20. Then consider an 80/20 split, which is generous at best. So, $800k in revenue. Remember that an employee doesn't just cost their salary, but also overhead (the building they're in, a computer, health insurance, etc.), and the rule of thumb there is 100% of salary, so your cost is $420k. Then you still have to support the game after purchase. Lastly, you give up whatever more profitable project those resources could have been devoted to. Hardly seems worth it.

It would still sell more there because the console audience is who the game will be designed for, and advertised to.

I just hate it when they say OHH Piracy on PC is SOOO bad. Do some searching and you will find that piracy on PS3/Wii/Xbox360 is actually very bad right now.. Not to mention that on PC if you download a pirated game you get absolutely no online play or features. essentially the game is locked out. Well if you also do a Google search on this you will find out that you can pirate a game on consoles and still have all the online functionality and you wont get banned. essentially they cant tell you have a pirated copy. So i know its worse on the consoles all together than the PC alone.
