That's an interesting way to skirt around the 1 year embargo, pursuant to a non-disclosure agreement, on announcing any PS3 version of a 360 "exclusive" that was funded by M$.
'I can't predict the future', says Ubi Montreal CEO.
Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat has cryptically told VideoGamer.com "there is always hope" for PS3-owning fans of upcoming action-fest Splinter Cell: Conviction, despite the game being a "true Microsoft exclusive".Mallat was speaking to VideoGamer.com last night after a London screening of Assassin's Creed: Lineage, the short film that fuses live actors with computer generated images.
Splinter Cell: Conviction, due out exclusively on Xbox 360 and PC in February next year, was described by Ubisoft in a "dev Q&A" as "a true Microsoft exclusive title". In the June post, the French company insisted "there are no plans to have Splinter Cell Conviction on other platforms".
Just so there's no confusion, here's how our chat with Mallat went down:
VideoGamer.com: We're a multiplatform website, and we have many PS3-owning readers who would love to play Splinter Cell: Conviction. Do you have any message for them? Is there any hope for them regarding the game?
Yannis Mallat: There is always hope.
VideoGamer.com: Does that mean Splinter Cell: Conviction might come to the PS3?
Yannis Mallat: I can't predict the future. But it's good to hear that people who can't play Splinter Cell are willing to.
While Mallat's comments do not confirm Conviction's arrival on the PS3, they are cryptic enough to suggest Splinter Cell's days on PS3 may not be over.

This is the one 360 exclusive I am jealous of, so I hope this is true. The PS3 really is starting to get closer to being perfect every day
*keeps hoping FFCC: Crystal Bearers goes to PS3*
I truly hope so. It looks fantastic.
Halo 3
Gears of War 1 & 2
Viva Pinata
Splinter Cell: Conviction
One day I will own a copy of each. One day.
It's company, of course they want the money, but probably the 360 port will be better.

How can the 360 version be a port when it is the lead platform? And recent trends would suggest that the PS3 version, if there is one, would be better.
keep waiting, you will get it eventually (yup, Ubisoft told me this  ). Don't know how many months or years you have to wait though.

I see I messed up :P. And 90% of multiplatforms look better on the 360 :|it simply doesn't make sense for ubisoft to make it MS exclusive considering the the old Splinter cell games sold extremely well on the PS2. If i had to guess i say 6 month timed exclusivity, but i also think timed exclusives are extremely stupid cause the most hype a game is going to get is when it's first released selling the same game on an other consoles months after it's released is recipe for failure look at bioshock great game but was a year behind on PS3 and i think didn't even get to 1 million copies

Yeah, but that's like taking a test already knowing the answers, the playstation gets more features and gameplay fixes, so of course it's better. If it was both were released on the same day then the 360 would win.No, thanks I wouldn't buy a Splinter Cell game because after the first week it's like eh. From past experience the online multiplayer is crap.
I might get this game if it comes to the PS3.
I don't see why a third party dev wouldn't port this over to the PS3, unless M$ made that so. (which they did)
I see it coming to the PS3 in 2011. :)

If it was both were released on the same day then the 360 would win.I never said anything about being released at the same time. I said that the late port will tend to be better. That is true of most 1+ year late ports. Given if they were released at the same time I would get it 85% that the Xbox360 would be the superior version.
There's no need for a PS3 port...Everyone already knows that all Cows own a high-end gaming PC. :PShattered007
[QUOTE="Shattered007"]There's no need for a PS3 port...Everyone already knows that all Cows own a high-end gaming PC. :PBrownesqueThis is a terrifically bad meme and it needs to die. Just because something is a multiplatform title does not mean that all fanboys claim they have one of those platforms.
I dont even think its a meme, just an ad hominen that I think some lemmings seriously use-- Im sure its just a joke but you never know here in SW :P

Seriously, what's the point of saying "cows... Uber PC's etc.". It's just a random thing that everybody in fact does not know. It lost it's humor back in 2006-2007. I just don't get it.

On topic, We all know how UBISOFT rolls, and this is just another way to get some headlines. This game isn't exclusive because Ubisoft hearts the 360.
You must have missed the "Console" and "Microsoft" exclusive tags Lemmings have been trying to push forever since PC/360 games can't be played on PS3.Its a 360 exclusive? last i checked we all had decided that if its on PC then its not an exclusive.

Yea, but not all PS3 only owners are cows.

Except you don't need a "high-end" gaming computer to play Xbox 360 games, a mediocre computer will do.

No its not a 360 exclusive, but in the words of Ubisoft, its a "True Microsoft Exclusive", That "It is meant for xbox360 and it will show
and that "they want the disk to meld with your 360 when you play it"

I might hold out on getting it for a year. Could be another beta test before a PS3 version with more content comes.ParasomniacYou should double-check what a beta is.
Well every other main Splinter Cell has been first on the Xbox then went to the other systems so I see no reason why this time it won't be the case.
OMG, arn't I popular :| ...Yes, it was a joke post... I though the " :P " was pretty clear. You people are getting way to serious...And it was a meme when anytime you post about Mass Effect or Splinter Cell you'd get a large group of fanboys claiming "I'll get the better PC verison" when before then, they'd never mention owning a gaming PC and have been very anti-hermit.

Thank you, I'd thought that was clear, Seems that people label themself a cow nowadays... :(This is the risk you run when you make deals for exclusives with companies that you don't own. A lot of MS' exclusives can potentially slip through their fingers while most Sony and Nintendo ones that are really crucial to the systems success (Mario, Zelda, God of War etc.) are owned by Sony and Ninty and have no chance of ever ending up anywhere else.
Splinter Cell was amazing for the first two games. The trailer for SC:C looked really, really good, but I hope they don't lose the essence of the series. I don't like to see Sam go toe-to-toe with so many foes. I loved completing an entire level without ever being seen by a single person. From the trailer it looks like they are trying to do what Uncharted did and go for over-the-top action (this time recreating a Bourne movie more than an Indiana Jones movie), but they face steep competition.
Anyway I have high hopes for this game. SC was one of my top 5 franchises at one point. The first one just enthralled me.

It all depends on how well the PC/360 does. If it's not one of the bigger releases next year, expect a port a year or so after...Althogh I doubt it'll get the special NG:Stigma treatment. Ubisoft seems to favor the 360 (more so then the PC, even)Im a cow, but I have to dissagree about that only being MS. Final Fantasy,Metal Gear Solid ,Tekken,Devil May Cry,and Grand Theft Auto say wadup. Also Call of Duty 4 (originally going to be PS3 exclusive) Assasins Creed (originally to be PS3 exclusive).............Resident Evil 5.........etc. Plus like 10 others that escape me right now. This is the risk you run when you make deals for exclusives with companies that you don't own. Splinter Cell Conviction will probably end up being another timed exclusive. Sorta like Bioshock was. I think if your a consumer, and are looking to buy a particular console, and there are certain exclusive titles that you like, then you might want to make sure they are exclusives, and not timed exclusives. For instants, if I already own a 360, but I really wanted to play Final Fantasy, but it's a PS3 exclusive,so I shell out the 299 for a PS3. Then I find out later that Final Fantasy is now coming out on the 360, so I could've saved my money. This is just an example, but I think Microsoft and Sony would be smart to lock up some certain exclusive franchises, and not have them be timed exclusives. I do however think that both have a fair amount of exclusives, but they seem to be getting slimmer and slimmer.
