I was just discussing this with a friend of mine and wanted to share the discussion with you guys..... hear me out. I know some of you hate long paragraphs, but hear me out

Ubisoft is probably one of my favorite developers, mainly because they make alot of memorable games. I am not singling them out as the best developer, but I did want to single them out as maybe the one with the most ambition. They are a very creative and unique group of people, making games that seam to truly stand out from the masses. This is mainly because it seams most games, even the fantastic ones, are still sort of the same thing. I am going to say a couple of brave things now, and say that even though Fallout,Call of Duty, and others are fantastic games, dont they still feel like just repeats of past games, just improved in different ways? It seams that Ubisoft is the developer that tries its best to come up with fresh ideas.

Are those ideas always highly succesful, NO OF COURSE NOT. But the premise of Prince of Persia, Assassins Creed, Future Soldier, Splinter Cell, and even the upcoming Ruse game.....well dont they seem a bit more original than the games being thrown at us hese days. So sure maybe Prince of PErsia is now geting stale, and the newe SPlinter Cell was not everyone's taste, but teh franchises themseleves are very fantastic games. Realize that even when they fail, Ubisoft often will use new ideas as guinea pigs, listen to fans, and then make a sequel totally amazing. That is what they did with Assassins Creed and what I think they will do withEndwar for Ruse and COnviction for the new splinter cell. As for prince of persia, not sure what to say.

Overall, though, Ubisoft seems to be one of the companies with the best idea of how to please fans and release titles that are new and fresh. Granted, many of their great attempts dont always stand tall, but you have to admit they try harder than almost anybody else. I dont feel they always get alot of credit for that.

NONE OF THIS IS A FACT, ONLY OPINION, STATE YOUR THOUGHTS, is Ubisoft a very unique and innovativecompany in todays game marketorare they lackluster, not much better than any other company(AND PLEASE REFRAIN FROM TROLLING!)

They ruin series of games i used to enjoy.

I remember when Advanced Warfighter released on the Xbox. It blew my mind, since then all they've made is garbage.

Look at what happened to Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon.

Today's Ubisoft is trying to increase profit at nearly any cost. Making your games idiot-proof like everyone else hardly makes you stand out from the competition.

I dunno, Ubi seems to be touching ground on a lot of nerves where as Activism seems to mainly be guilty of trashing CoD.

You mean apart from the fact they make them very repettive without good singleplayer compaign and story? Let alone the drm and some budget cuts they make like "no manuals" plus 60 bucks price tag on pc games, that did not interested already the pc gamers and tahts the problem not piracy, their games simply dont sell. What was the last good pc game ubisoft made? I honestly use to respect ubisoft but now they started to feel like a company that makes simple games on the go, without caring much the buyer.....no scratch that, they try to annoy ther buyer with their disrespectfull moves.

Settlers 7, best game in the franchise (yes...better than S2). Before that Anno 1404 was brilliant.

I did hate how they released Silent Hunter 5 in alpha state though

I'm pretty sure the Assassin's Creed franchise is their most successful ever. Both games sold over 8 million each.

They play the role of "The Grand Masters of Awesome Concepts, Horrible Execution" Farcry 2, the first assassin's creed, the new splintercell, prince of persia 2008(open world design, one v one combat were cool ideas, bad execution there ubi), and just setting a whole new bar for stupidity. On the bright side when developers have cool concepts, but execute poorly. I can say they Ubisofted that ****. That counts as a good thing right? Besides the fluke that was Assassin's Creed 2(good game)

They are turning into all the things I hate about gaming.

At the same time though they have given me some of my most favourite games like Assassins Creed and Prince of Persia (2008 ).

theres about 6 ubi games i want....but at the mo im boycotting them on all platforms due to their nasty (to put it politely) DRM. im not anti all DRM but this particular DRM is unacceptable to me. they make good games but sometimes they also make daft and stupid decisions.

My bad. But really when i think of Ubisoft i think of Ubisoft Montreal. And i don't see where Ubisoft is going with this anti-PC policy when they own revered PC franchises.

I really like Ubisoft games, they are extremely fun despite everyone here who considers themselves too hardcore to play their new "dumbed down" games. I find RSV2 and GRAW too be a lot more fun than the old ones which could be stupidly hard. Ubisoft is moving in a new direction for their ip's for better or worse. I think its better to enjoy them (as they are good) instead of complaining about how they arent like the older ones. Of course PoP and their wii/DS games are terrible lol. Also ACII proves Ubisoft is a great publisher/dev

They're using them to push DRM. Because of it I skipped Asassins Creed 2 and Splinter Cell, but there's no way I could skip Silent Hunter and Settlers :(

And you know what makes it even worse? Apparently they made Massive design and mantain the DRM. Yep, creators of World in Conflict are stuck making damn DRM systems :(

As a developer, they're great. As a publisher, they put together one of the worst forms of DRM since Starforce.

POP trilogy on PS2 was great.

Assassins Creed 1 and 2 are great.

PoP 2008 was reallylame but Forgotten Sands looks like it'll offer some redemption. Those are really the only Ubisoft games I have any interest in.

Garbage company, making easy/crap/**** games. Their push for GAME BREAKING DRM is horrible. Why the **** can't I play a game I paid for? They can go **** themselves.

EDIT: I decided to elaborate more.

PoP. First one was good, the second 2 were decent, then after that it just got stupid easy can't die mode. Now they are making a PoP game based on a movie that's based on the original game. WUT.

SC. I loved that series. LOVED IT. SC, PT, CT, and even Double Agent (PS2/Xbox version) were great. But DA for 360("Next gen" versions) was stupid easy and was a set up to move for the ultra easy mode of Conviction. That game is honestly too easy to be labeled as having a "reaslistic" mode. Dumb.

R6. Last good game was R6Vegas. Yes, Vegas 2 was fun but that game started getting stupid bullet spamming through walls and became more of a "generic shootan."

Ghost Recon. GRAW was fun, I haven't played GRAW2 though. So, I'll leave it at that.

I hate Ubi.

I hate their games and not because of their DRM since I buy multiplats on the 360.

Poor level design, annoying A.I., goofy storylines, lack of polish. The DNA/memory story in AC was so awful and so unneeded.

I enjoyed Far Cry 2 and Rainbow Six Vegas but their other games this gen have just annoyed the hell out of me. Ubisoft games are good to get a year late in the bargain bin and play while you are waiting for something else.

They produce a lot more good games then AC. Splinter Cell Conviction is a great title. Brothers in Arms Hells Highway and Call of Juarez Bound in Blood are also 2 good titles. POP was a flop, but they have a lot of talent behind their company, and they are by far one of my favorite dev/publ. out.

Ubi used to be one of my favorite developers and has created one of my favorite games of all time (PoP: The Sands of Time) along with starting up some great franchises, however their stubborn, nonsensical, idiotic insistent use of this broken DRM has placed them at the very bottom of my list of publishers. Luckily there have been no games that I have been particularly interested in yet that use this DRM (with the exception of Silent Hunter V, but luckily it sucked). However, it looks like the release of The Witcher 2 will change that.

I can't justify piracy, but I won't lie....what they are doing is seriously making me contemplate finding any means necessary to be able to actually play great games without them being ruined by an ultimately ineffective, broken system of copyright protection.

i really enjoy most of the games they produce. some people say they are 'too easy' or 'accessible' or 'user friendly' or whatever but if i want a serious challenge i do something thats actaully worthwhile. ubisofts games provide me with great entertainment. me and my wife are playing splinter cells coop five or six hours a week and loving it
