Uh, continuing the other thread/ consoles v. PC

On recently locked thread - You're only fooling yourself if you think graphics and mods alone make out the PC to be some kind of gaming heaven. The 360 has enough console exclusives to make it a very attractive option for anyone who doesn't want to shell out $600 on a gaming PC, i.e., the AVERAGE CONSUMER.

If it were 2x better, that would be something. But at present, graphics are only 1.3 times better. And since graphics amount to very little in actual fun, The price is a huge deterrent.

Graphics only 1.3x better? Sorry, but consoles haven't even caught up to 2007. Graphics are 2x-3x ahead easily. Possibly 4x with Battlefield 3.

Graphics are a big amount of fun. Only people in denial claim that graphics have no impact.

Oh man. Let me dissect this post piece by piece. 4x better? Are you kidding me? Have the polls at system wars gotten to you? Here's an example. Super Mario Sunshine is 2x better looking than Super Mario 64. Galaxy is about 1.2 better looking than Sunshine. 2x better than current console graphics would look like real life. Graphics are a factor of fun. Not a "big amount". the original Super Mario Bros. is still very fun compared to Super Mario Galaxy. Since super Mario Bros. graphics are extremely dated compared to Galaxy, there's obviously more to a game than graphics. And if you've read any professional review of any product, price is a "big amount" of a product's practicality. I don't speak for everyone by the way. Just the average consumer.2-10-08

No it wouldn't. 2x better would no way be close to real-life. We do not have the power to push real-life visuals in real-time and we won't for probably 20-30 years. That'll be for PC.

Sunshine would be about 2-3x better looking than SM64. SM64 is just plain ugly. Galaxy is also 2-3x better looking than Sunshine, as Sunshine is very outdated and the Wii, while still sort've weak, is VERY ahead of Sunshine in the visual department.

And who says you can speak for all of the average consumers? I don't remember nominating you as spokesman.

Call me when consoles can finally reach Crysis visuals.

There is more to graphics than raw polygon count.

PS3 + PSN = 74

Wii + Wiiware = 89

199 compared to 234. They haven't even reviewed/scored all the PC games.

Maybe there should be an appointed website/aggregate source to substitute in the event that gamespot doesn't review a game.

There are a hell of a lot of expansion packs that get reviewed as full games.2-10-08

yeah it's sad how many console developers try passing off expansions as full games

I played and beat Machinarium. Played and beat Shadow Complex. Both good games. Either both or neither should be counted.

notice how all the pc gamers in here are arguing with the same guy, because everyone else doesn't care and i'm suprise you guys are debating with him. And notice that "expansions" such as Halo ODST are counted on the console side.

we aren't talking about $15 map packs. many expansions are stand alone games and are as big as some full games. have you not researched the games you are throwing out?
