PS4 Failure Rate Only Less Than 1%

http://www.justpushstart.com/2013/11/ps4-failure-rate-less-1/

At least it's less than the PS3's which I'm okay with.

For comparisons's sake

  • The Iphone 4/s has a 7% failure rate at launch
  • Ipad air 1.6% at launch
  • PS3 10% at launch
  • Xbox 360 23.6 % at launch
  • Wii 2.7% at launch

Sony is the PR and lie king. Remember how they tried to cover up the PSN hack? This is like that X100.

This will seal the companies fate.

1M+ PS4's sold to consumers in 24 hours. A 1% failure rate is literally nothing. We should only be worried if it hits like 15%+.

Although Mass Produced hardware failures are innevitable, its how the manufacturer deals with it that matters.

If the failure rate is 1% (and I doubt that), it would be lower than the Wii failure rate.

Lets all be honest with ourselves for a moment (I know this is SW and all).

1 - If it was 360 failure levels it would be front page news by now

2 - If failure rates were over 5%, with lems as desperate as they are, they would have been able to find more that a hand full of cases on the entire internet.

Now this may change over the use/life of the system, but for now, Sony looks to have made a solid product that many people want (1mil).

If lems are angry about that, good, the gaming world need not revolve around the ignorant.

Sure I mean you could eventually get 5M units sold with a 3% failure rate.

As mentioned before, acceptable electronics failure rate is 3-5%.

1. Where did you get failure rates of those other products ?

2. No one can say what the failure rate of a product is in its first days/weeks so stupid topic is stupid

Failure rate might stay at 1-2% might climb 20% after a month

3-5% for average electronics. Laptops are known to have a failure rate in the high teens / low twenties within the first 3-4 years. Failure rate is usually determine within a date range. The original 360 could have had a 30% failure rate (or whatever it was) in its first two or three years but today, it's probably much much lower.

How can anyone know the exact percentage failure rate when it's only been out a few days? Surely it'd take months to compile that data?

They just make these numbers up. Much like MS made up their numbers for the RROD. I'm sure the PS4 issues will be nothing like the RROD fiasco, seeing as that was a fundamental design flaw whereas the PS4 just seems to have simple manufacturing quality control problems, but even still. Dont just throw a number out of your ass to make people calm down and go buy something which might massively let them down.

Early adopting; not even once.

2. Expect front page news on it next week.

3. 30% of 1 star reviews on Amazon is more than a hand full of cases. http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-4-Launch-Edition/product-reviews/B00BGA9WK2/ref=cm_cr_pr_hist_1?ie=UTF8&filterBy=addOneStar&showViewpoints=0&sortBy=bySubmissionDateDescending

You also have to take into account, the PS4 has only just launched in the US, it launches in a 12 days in the UK and EU and then in Feb of next year for Japan. Those failure rates are only going to go up folks.

Furthermore getting such failure rate figures a couple days after launch isn't gonna happen

Nice of you to round up the figure to 1% when the article states 0.4%. But anyway, that's besides the point. The point is that no one can really know what the percentage is. Sony themselves can't know the exact number of ps4s sold. So how can they, or anyone else possibly obtain a failure rate percentage? It was for this reason the 360's RROD was given the benefit of doubt for so long. When I asked around, everyone I know got hit with the RROD at least once. Even the retailer which I patronized confirmed that almost everyone who ever bought a 360 from him returned it at least once. From that alone, I would have been fairly certain that the 360's failure rate was north of 50%. However, because there is no reliable way for such a figure to ever be obtained statistically, everyone gave it the benefit of doubt. MS even dared to claim that it was only 5%. Bottom line is, everything we read is bogus.

It was. The thing was that since the GPU was being slowly "cooked" it was unusual for it to RRoD right away. It did happen, though.

well, doesn't it need more time until we actually know how many launch systems broke? It COULD be possible, that like 90% break within a month or something like that. Sure it's unlikely, but we have no clue so far how many % of them break in a rather short time

@TheEroica: Yeah it's getting annoying, a handful of people post their issues which most aren't even a major problem and suddenly the sky is falling. I remember the iPhone 4S failures, people talking about lawsuits and Apple going under 3 months later it was forgotten and Apple were gods again. Now that I've seen the HDMI problem I'll definitely be checking my HDMI port for a piece of metal sticking up, I'll also make sure it's well ventilated and not being played into the ground for a few days to ensure the console has a chance to "bake in" and I bet I have no problems unless my console really is one of the few defective ones.

@hamster3_3: No the fact half of amazon reviews are bad just means people are more likely to review it because theirs broke. If everyone reviewed it don't you think Amazon would have 1 million reviews instead? Idiot. The amazon numbers are not to scale.

If it's overheating rather than hardware this will be an ongoing problem.
