The PS3 Slim's sales puts the console ahead of all other video gaming hardware, at three times the sales of the Xbox 360, DS Lite and Nintendo Wii individually (they all sold around the same in the week ending 5th September).
As previously reported,PS3 software sales are also up,with a 17 per cent total increase, claiming third place behind the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360.
It's also interesting to note that when the PS2 Slim launched, sales increased by "only" 310 per cent over the previous week. Despite this, the PS2 Slim still sold 21 per cent more than the PS3 Slim in it's launch week - though the price of the system was much lower than the PS3 Slim is now.
"The longevity of this uplift very much depends on the time of year. The PS2 Slim was released in November, much closer to Christmas. We'll have to wait and see how things work out for Sony this time," Chart-Tracktold MCV-UK.
The PS3 also saw a15,000 per cent increase in sales in Japan, selling more weekly units than ever before at 150,000 units.
