UK: PS5 is the comfortable market leader for the year so far

PS5 kicking ass and taking names in the UK. Switch seems to not have the same momentum there as it does in other markets. Maybe less of a need to buy it for their children. And Xbox lining the rear as expected. Not only that, Xbox third party sales have been horrible in the UK, even by sales ratio standards. A recent example...

Granted, that is a game that's available on GP, but the splits have been awful for third party games in general on Xbox. RE:Village and Scarlet Nexus saw a split of 80/20 in favor of Playstation. Maybe a combination of the "Game Pass effect" mixed with the unpopularity of the system. The Game Pass effect being apathetic Xbox owners not buying games thinking the titles will come to the service.. It's only looking to hurt Xbox in the long run.

I live in the UK and the notifications I get daily for PlayStation 5's in stock are plenty,more weekly for Xbox series X,so this doesn't surprise me

That is the fault of those publishers not securing a lucritive GamePass deal.

Capcom's fault for taking Sony's "dont be on GamePass for one year" money and signing their contract, as we saw from the Capcom leaks.

Bandai Namco themselves are likely responsible for Scarlet Nexus not being on GamePass. I am certain Microsoft approached them to be on GamePass, and if it were within Microsoft's purview, it would have been on there day one. That's their fault for making the business decision to not put the game there.

What needs to be made absolutely clear at this late stage in the game, is that GamePass is going to be Xbox's primary business model going foreward, and that is not changing. Publishers can frankly either get with it or get fucked. This is neither Microsoft's fault nor their problem. Its the market punishing those publishers for a bad business decision.

Yeah right. If you think MS is going to pay for everything to be on GP, then you've gone completely nuts. Most game publishers need to make money for their games, not just accepting a check from Phil Spencer, fucking themselves over for potential profits by adding their game to a streaming service.

If anything, this is going to **** up relations with third parties for Xbox if the userbase doesn't want to leave the Game Pass bubble. Xbox isn't providing THAT much content yet, but they've already conditioned a good size of their base to not want to pay full price for games, and that's only going to give more leverage to Sony. Hell, the problem last gen were Xbox gamers not wanting to buy games, and for some reason, MS leaned in on it.

GP is not profitable, and it's going to stay that way at this rate. Hell, publishers like R* said this business model was unsustainable a long time ago. This is a stupid and nihilistic business plan that's not doing anything for the company than scoring them a few brownie points. But they've been doing this the past five years and it's STILL not moving the needle.

We keep getting told that Game Pass is good for sales, and god damn if we've seen any evidence of it yet.

To be honest since I'm using Game Pass I almost don't buy any games. This year I bought Mario 3D World and that's it.
