Game, Gamestation, Amazon have already sold out. Not sure about all of Europe, but it's nearly sold out here in the UK.

I knew I should have pre-ordered. I hope I'll be able to get a chance to buy a new copy next Saturday, but now it seems doubtful...

Well, this clearly tells us that Sony did make a big mistake about not publishing it when they had the chance. It also tells me that I need to start pre-orders when I have the chance!

Sony made huge mistakes with this game, they should of pushed it, instead sony gave it no publicity at all, the game is one of the best games this generation and deserves much more reputation than it gets now

It's an unforgiving game to get in to, tough as nails and difficult to get used to but once you do it's ultimately rewarding and fun. I didn't think I'd like it at first. It's like this generation's Gauntlet rather than being this generation's Ultima.

Making it look like a collectors edition for the price of a normal game was an excellent idea.

Thats........suprising. Not that i didnt think it would sell well, i just thought the majority of Europeans who wanted it got their fix with the NA and Asian versions. Still, this is good, although they probably didnt even ship many copies.

Demon's Souls... I really liked the game, but it was just too difficult after the first 2 bosses.

Not at all, with world 4 being as soul rich as it is. :P Usually people go to world 2 after the first 2 bosses to get upgrade materials though. I bet Sony is crying over how they decided to push for WKC instead of this :P Still, I think Sony owns the IP. They would be crazy to let it go. From Software denied development on DS2, so if Sony has half a brain left they would push with the sequel like they should have with the first game.

I doubt the game would have been as successful if the Asia version was not already in English. perhaps more games for the asian market should try this.

I am glad Sony didn't publish the game thus allowing other devs Atlus and Namco to profit. I bought the game on release in the UK and though I had concerns about the difficulty I have to say the game is well worth it. Such a game to come out this gen must definitely be noticed since it's not the type of game devs are willing to put money on.

I'm not sure, casual gamers HATE demon souls at least from what I've experienced. A few of my friends are casual gamers and sent it back within 10 minutes of playing it from frustration. Not sure it would do well in a general market. I still agree that it should have been advertised much more. It would sell well just because there are a lot of players out there willing to deal with its punishing difficulty.

"Casuals" don't hate difficulty, they hate games that are boring (to them).

Well a game would get boring if you keep dying and fail to improve one-self in the game. Thus casuals do hate the difficulty in DS because it leads to repetition and eventually boredom.

I doubt they shipped that many. Alan Wake did better in the UK than Demon's Souls.

Most likely but then again Alan Wake is a pretty safe title though it has not multiplayer, Demon's Souls is pretty damn niche as they come and sold really well considering Atlus were very happy with the American sales and since DS did break into the UK top 10 Im sure it Namco too will be pleased with the sales in the UK as well as Europe. On the other hand Alan Wake underperformed both in terms of sales and reviews.

Both are great games though, and it's best not to compare them since they are polar opposites.

This is where you are wrong, you assume that "casuals" are inherently less skilled and have a shorter attention span than "hardcore". If a game is fun, they will enjoy challenge, if a game is boring, they'll have less patience.

I didn't say they are less skilled but like you said they have less patience. Casuals gamers expect instant gratification and DS does not do that until you get deeper into the game. And getting deeper into DS involves trial and error, the difficulty is what leads to boredom thus casual gamers do not enjoy the difficulty as it does not yield instant gratification for them.

A big part of what makes a game casual is accessibility, if something is "too difficult" it stops being accessible.

Indeed, it is by far my best PS3 game, one of the best action titles ever and the RPG elements are addictive and amazing too, adding a whole new level of depth to the action genre
