ummm why all the hate on GTAIV?

im simply amazed by the bad air about this game. i just dont get it, let me break it down.

Graphics:

the graphics look pretty decent, you have to realize this game is a large sandbox game, and i dunno if you remember, but in the trailer, i saw quite a few pedestrians, and game informer reported that each pedestrian would be doing various things, like reading, talking, sitting, ie.. the citys going to be  a living breathing location, so why the hell would you reasonably expect some super high DOAesque quality models?? Sure its a 360/PS3 game but damn some of you guys have ridiculous demands that lack sense.

city size:

so its smaller than san andreas, so what? 1/3 of san andreas was barren land. Plus its probably going to be twice as big as los santos, with amazing amounts of more detail, so youd rather have rockstar throw in some unecessary land over a higly detailed city?

Its in Liberty City..again!:

okay i doubt its going to be the same liberty city you saw in GTA3 and LCS, reworked, redone, and redrawn is what im thinking, thus practically a new city. 

I don't like GTA in general, I don't think they are great games at all... good maybe.coreygames

thats a fair criticism, you just dont like the series, but theres a boatload of people who just bash on for really menial and nonsensical reasons. 

Well I'm positive towards GTA IV but my main issues are your last point, might be something like GTA III all over but we aren't sure of that.

And also lack of planes, now out of nowhere ppl are comming up saying planes sucked and that they were unnecesary or a pin etc....

I agree, I think alot of people are jumping to conclusions. the city may be smaller but it might actually have alot more areas to explore than san andreas. like you said that game was 80% countrysides and deserts and most of the buildings couldn't be entered...plus the graphics in this game looks miles better than the rest.     

Genuinely the plane parts frustrated me. Having to learn how to fly was one of the biggest chores in the whole game. Flying through the red rings AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN...errghh...no thanks.dommeus

Ater CJ gets enough experiense and you get the controlls right flying around SA is quite fun, specially the planes that make it easy like the Hydra and shamall, not that you will always be using the crappy small one they give for practice.

It's not even that, it's the fact that a New York themed city is so drab and predictable. People liked VC and San andreas because they were colorful and bright and had varied environments. Look at how many games have New York as a setting, then think about all the movies, books and comics are set in NY. I want something new, NY is a tired setting for a game, no matter how lively they make it.

I for one is excited about the new GTA. Even though it doesn't have planes and the map is smaller, as long as it has more details not only visually but the interaction is bigger, then I will be a satisfied customer.jsnepo

What turns me off about the game is the fact that you can't fly planes. I would rather have GTAIV be 2X bigger than look 5X better. They say because it's one city, you don't need planes. It's all bull crap because people still cry about 911, that's why there's no planes in GTAIV.
