Uncharted GOTY?

I belive it will become the biggest sleeper hit of all §time, everything about the game seems perfect so far.

i think SMG will win it; that game has received so many perfect and near perfect scores.

It's from Naughty Dog, so it will be a good game.

But don't expect too much.

Official hype level is currently AA. It appears some people are still afraid of "teh bias" , and I must agree they have every reason for it.

However, I am of the opinion that they just can't ignore this game because they would make it too obvious, and people would really start to wonder whats wrong .

EVERYTHING about this game looks beyond awesome so far, so if it doesn't get ATLEAST AAA then something really is fishy about the GS reviews..

Also, none of us have played the full version of the game. So, let's not act like we know how this game will fair in reviews and in public. Think of all of the things that make up a game and then you'll realixe you haven't seen most of them for Uncharted, yet.

Sure they will. If the PS3 really does get the best GOTY it will get GOTY. Gamespot isn't biased. But you have to honest, so far the PS3 just doesn't have a contender for GOTY yet (that has been reviewed) that's why it's not up for grabs.

I guess you missed the part where i said "Not enough blockbuster titles." Yeah, I'm well aware that Crysis and Bioshock are better than R&C and HS. And I know PS3 will get a GOTY, just not any for 2007.

Uncharted has the potential. But, again, we haven't played the full game to know, either way.

its like a cross of gears of war, stranglehold, and tomb raider.

the shotgun was sweet though.

nonsense. the games are just not good enough to become game of the year. but it's close. it's not that they are bad...

Uncharted looks great from what i've played (just the Demo), but no GOTY. Heavenly Sword is EPIC and fantastic (started the game right up again after i finished it). I play on all platforms, and i think PS3 is lucky if they have a contender for GOTY. Too bad MGS4 or Little big Planet aren't out in this year.. they would have been nominated imo.

Excellent point. Fanboys of all consoles (myself included; I would be classified as a lemming) often ridiculously overrate something based solely upon the demo (I am not, however, stating that Uncharted will be a bad game; if I had a PS3, I would definitely buy it). Such is not a sound practice. One should not rate anything until one has played through the entire game. I think that we should all take that to heart. I, for example, am not going to say that Mass Effect is the "Best. Game. Evar." until I play it through.

yes but, because of halo. We have hundreds of different fps' each year claiming to be the "next halo". Just look at killzone. All of these games have used halo as their basis because Halo was one of the first console fps' to do it right (after PD and goldeneye) I know that doom and duke have done these things before but for consoles, literally every fps has been trying to beat halo because that was the game to beat. therefore they all tried to beat halo at their own games.

Basically, think of all the fps's we have, they have all blatantly copied halo, doom whatever, the point is, that every game copies of another trend setter at somepoint. At least with uncharted it copies a genre that has all but been wiped out in the last 6 years.

Yes, a lot of FPS's usually try to take an idea or concept and make something unique. There are exceptions though, Recently: Bioshock with it's underwater city setting, Crysis with it's stealth and Rambo style combat in one (I haven't seen any other FPS's that do this), Half Life 2 was obviously a sequel, but the gravity gun and story depth completely reinvented single player FPS's.

All FPS's never have the concept that everything in the game is new because gameplay mechanics that have been used are some of the best that we can achieve. But please don't say every FPS tries to copy Halo, because Halo was not the first to do anything with the exception of maybe the shield recharge, but that may have been done in another game even before it (I think Tribes had it actually, along with vehicle combat).
