Uncharted graphics are over rated

A few days ago I finally got round to finishing uncharted.

In the time between starting and finishing uncharted i have played games such as,

Mass Effect, MGS4, Halo 3, Killzone 2, Crysis,Gears 1 ,Gears 2, Stalker, world in conflict, cod 4 and many more,

and these games all look better than uncharted.

The good thing about uncharted is the lighting and the water effects.

but the textures and everything else is horrible.

and no, this isnt a fanboyish opinion, you should really go look for yourselves.

Still looks insanely good to me.

Although I think that Uncharted is beautiful, I also believe it is over rated as far as the graphics. I was never amazed by the graphics to begin with.

Graphics in general is overrated. TC you for one seem to care too much, same goes for many other people.

Wait you thought Uncharted had horrible texture work? I'm sorry but that's far from the truth...and like you mentioned in your post you barely beat the game and before you did so you've beaten games that just came out a couple of months ago so I don't see how you can go and say Uncharted graphics are overrated. At the time it was easily the top 3 best looking game.

Same exact thought I had. I don't think it's worth defending Uncharteds graphics if the TC really thinks those games look better.

Its the insanely high production values and attention to detail that make Uncharted great. Like how you can see the fear in Drakes face when bullets fly past him. Also his animations are incredibly fluid. Not to mention the quality of the soundtrack and voice acting...

Are you sure you found COD4, Gears1, Halo3 & Mass Effect to look better than Uncharted??? You found textures & everything else horrible except the water effects?? are you sure you played Uncharted or was it another game..

I played the game about 4 times and personally its still in my Top5 best looking titles on consoles considering it was released in late 2007..

In my opinion, I think Uncharted's graphics looks very good and up to the PS3's standard. I don't think they are over-rated at all.

why dont you pop a copy of uncharted in a see for yourselves.

the parts of the game near the sea looked good, but all the jungle environments were horrible.

If your only complaint is the foliage, which, at times, was admittedly plastic-y, then you're going out of your way to ignore the wider forest backdrop and the polished textures of the ruins--they were amazing.

The only graphical downfall I'd acknowledge as being in Uncharted is texture pop-ins.

COD4 looks awful up-close, so does Halo with it's 600p resolution.

Uncharted by far is one of the best looking games this gen.

question, why is this sudden interest again in Uncharted 1 visuals?? that has been discussed alot back in late 2007 & throughout 2008.. Mmmm is it because many (PS3) haters have seen the latest vid for Uncharted2 and found its visually amazing..

MGS4 alone beats all of those in graphics alone. Uncharted 1 & 2 greatly reduces their chances as of being called superior.

Haven't you heard thatall PS3 owners have a high end gaming PC to play the 360/PC games.

Agreed. Stalker has some of the best combination of high dynamic ranged lighting and bump mapping going!

Mass Effect, Halo 3, MGS4, Gears 1 and CoD 4 DO NOT have better graphics than Uncharted. CoD 4 looks pretty awful close up for a start, and dosn't even look that good anyway. Mass Effect looks quite good, but then there are so many technical issues that it's brought right down. MGS4 looks good for the most part, but some of the graphics look awful like in CoD4. Halo 3 graphics are just flat out not anywhere near as good as Uncharted, or most of the other games you mentioned. Gears 1 dosn't look as good in the first place, and it also suffers from technical issues. Uncharted looks alot better than those games. The rest mabye, not sure, except for the PC titles of course. Also PGR4 looks better than Uncharted.

uncharted looks much better than halo 3, mass effect, and COD4, those arent just fanboyish opinions either, have another look for yourself. MGS4 and gears 1 are close, i think uncharted surpasses gears 1 but is on par with MGS4.
