[QUOTE="tonitorsi"]Then where would be the fun in that, if Gears 2 is an automatic win? :?Pariah-Hardly. Uncharted beats Gears 2
Lol no it doesn't unless ofcourse if you haven't played both games.

I have. Uncharted beats it by a mile. Gears 2 suffers the same problems as Gears 1. The closer you get to the draw image, the more the consistency of the polygons breaks down. In the end, all the game does to cover up its deficiencies is hide behind the oppressive figure of the highly polished armor (at least Killzone 2 was smart enough to use the more realistic implementation of motion-blur). It's exactly what they did with RE5. As far as Uncharted screen shots go, Adoring Fan already shot yours down. Uncharted 2 is simply incapable of maintaining those kind of textures.

At least I posted a decent comparison.
Uncharted has horrible aliasing problems, enemy models are horrific and dull, pixelated shadows, bad looking grass, bad use of motion blur compared to gears of war 2 which is a lot more subtle, bad draw distance compare it to the cave levels of gears 2, it has bad framerate hiccups (gears 2 is silky smooth compared to it). Gears 2 has simply a lot more happening on screen. There is no way uncharted looks better than gears 2.
I think its obvious to see that he was joking with those pics, because of the poor pics the TC used.opex07
Not obvious at all. The TC used two closeup pics. Both of which were low quality, and yet the difference in quality was still discernible. That's pretty fair compared to trailer shots v. in-game shots.

Aside from that, the only criticism you've made that's worth mention is some blocky shadows. Everything else you've mentioned is garbage--especially with regards to the idea that Gears' draw distance is superior to Uncharted's--which is so unbelievably wrong.
Prove me wrong, just look at the pics I've posted.

Pariah-
Those pics were taken by a blog poster in order to give Uncharted an edge, months ago, and have already been discussed. The person who took those picks had taken them when the textures were still being loaded in order to make gears2 look worse.
If you had read through the thread you would have seen the person who put up those pics say he was joking.

GabeNewell's Pie is notorious for posting misleading stuff unapologetically, so finding a comment like that doesn't help his case in my eyes.
I'm already familiar with where the pics came from. The blogger didn't give either one an edge--of course that didn't keep the 360 crowd from crying foul about anything that speaks poorly of Gears. Uncharted was treated the same way.
Not this again. It's well established that Gears 2 took the console gfx king title from MGS4, and only months later was surpassed by Killzone 2. Whether KZ2 will be replaced by Uncharted 2 is a whole different discussion.

i have, and it does... i have too and i still think gears 2 looks better. Some Gears 2 screens...
and a cutscene...
Gears 2 was also praised for awesome fire effects, huge amounts of enemies on screen, and giant bosses. Uncharted wasn't even acknowledged as being superior to MGS4, which was replaced by Gears 2 as console gfx king.
Your comparing a 2007 game to a 2008 game. Witch got beat by 2009 game.
Do i see a pattern emerging?
[QUOTE="gamecubepad"]But UC 2 looks undoubtablly better then Gears 2. After playing UC 2 its hard to go back to the gears format. Some Gears 2 screens...

Agreed. That's the nature of comparing games that don't come out at the same time.
Let's face it, Killzone 2 beats Gears 2 and Uncharted 2 looks to up the ante. We'll be looking forward to Reach and Gears 3 to see if U2 or KZ2 can be matched or surpassed. Right now, the PS3 has the most visually impressive console titles.
I forgot to mention Crysis 2 and Rage. From what I've seen of Crysis 2 it beats out any console game currently on the market. We could very well be seeing multiplats dominating the console gfx king title. Makes sense to me.

Hard to say what your pics are trying to prove. All I see are poor textures that are carefully complemented by artistic details and a backdrop--yes, the cave is a backdrop, not an actual environment. So please stop trying to attribute that to draw distance.
Neither of them are fun or attractive.cheese_itSorry mister i play crysis or what ever other pc game you play. These are the most attractive games on console take that talk to a PC forum or something.

Yeah its an interesting gen but if Naughty dog was right then UC 2 is as good as it gets. Im sure Reach and Gears3 will max out the 360 aswell.GabeNewell's Pie is notorious for posting misleading stuff unapologetically, so finding a comment like that doesn't help his case in my eyes.

If you have played Gears 2 then you would realize that most of his shots were taking in the beginning of every level in order to try and capture the times in which the textures may be loading.

nah when the textures are loading all you see are bland figures for about 3 seconds.[QUOTE="gamecubepad"]Gears 2 was also praised for awesome fire effects, huge amounts of enemies on screen, and giant bosses. When did I mention draw distance? Stop tripping. This is old news. If you want a petty argument, go elsewhere. I haven't paid attention to your previous posts and have no intention of rehashing a year-old argument.
MGS4 was console gfx king. Then Gears 2. Now it's KZ2. This is widely accepted as truth.

Its much further in UC the Gears 2 one the buildings look blurry.Yeah its an interesting gen but if Naughty dog was right then UC 2 is as good as it gets. Im sure Reach and Gears3 will max out the 360 aswell.Rza_rectah
Word. Crysis 2 seems a sure bet to equal or surpass any other console title. That would be a fitting end imo.
i got lulz :Pwe are at almost 200 posts, list one useful thing that you got from those 200 posts?????
i know, there is no point in Game VS Game threads.

[QUOTE="Rza_rectah"] nah when the textures are loading all you see are bland figures for about 3 seconds.opex07The textures don't just appear they slowly dissolve into the scene when being loaded nah its bland first then they appear to pop up in the screen. I dont know about dissolving though.
ah yes the good old in-game screens vs CGI / Photoshops. Very nice comparison. Maybe next time you should do an actual comparison between both games in game... oh wait, you're too scared that uncharted looks better than Gears which is why you posted bullshots. Good job at failing.[QUOTE="GabeNewellsPie"]
Sorry its not even a contest.

Console graphical comparison threads are always fun, the reason being in the majority of cases consoles cannot take screenshots. So it is essentially people on both sides throwing bullshots at each other, neither of which are representative of the actual experience. Even if the game can take a screenshot; I've heard of console games pre-rendering frames prior to saving to hide the jaggies.
Makes me wish I had a card capable of capturing raw 720p screenshots from a hooked up console, but I don't have £150 burning a hole in my pocket.

[QUOTE="awssk8er716"]It does, the TC used a screen when Gears haven't loaded all the textures, it takes several seconds to load and Dom looks better than that. A you like dom in that way. eeeeeeeh. :PUmmmm... Wow. I thought Gears of War had a lot better graphics than that.

Youre kidding right? You see people, this is a perfect example of how stupid some people can be when it comes to comparing games graphically. When you look at and judge a game graphically, you arent supposed to stare inches away at a characters face. The only real way to judge a games graphics is by taking a shot of actual gameplay because if you just take a snapshot of one upclose part of the game, you arent even portraying a fraction of said games real beauty. Give me a shot of the scene in Gears 2 when you first enter the caverns and tell me how "bad" that looks..
I agree with this guy. Please Log In to post.
