Both titles came out at similar times in their respective consoles lifetimes.

They were THE title showcases for the second christmas of underperforming consoles, with hopes of turning the tide....Graphical showpieces both, with heralded gameplay and production values.

Which game was successful in the goals set out, and which game did you enjoy more(if you've played both). Which do you think time will remember with more fondness?

Uncharted(PS3)

Metroid Prime(GC)

Are you comparing Metroid Prime 1 on GC with Uncharted on PS3?

OR

Metroid Prime 3 on Wii vs. Uncharted?

I think it goes like this :

METROID > UNCHARTED>METROID PRIME 3.

I own and have completed all three games. Metroid was too great for it's time, but I think Uncharted is better than Metroid Prime 3.

Based on the impact at the time, I have to give Metroid Prime the nod here. By the time Uncharted came out, Gears of War had already come. Metroid Prime also had some tremendous art so that helped as well.

I'd say Metroid Prime, but I'm a little biased when it comes to comparing Metroid with other games. :P

He's not comparing straight graphics, but graphics for their time and the impact the aforementioned titles had. At least I hope he is. :P

Without a question Metroid Prime was more impressive for it's time. I've never gotten so immersed into a game before playing Metroid Prime. It was one of those games that raised the bar in and set new standards for quality.

How can you enjoy one game more than another you've never played? :? But as for me, it'd have to be metroid.

Metroid Prime for me. That game had it all, and its still fun today. I haven't been able to go back through Uncharted a second time, even for trophies. Pirate shooting got so damn repetitive in that game.

How can you say you've enjoyed it more if you haven't played Uncharted?

I've yet to play Metroid Prime, but I love the 2D metroids. I also loved Uncharted.

I'll go with Uncharted since i havent played MP.

I liked MP3 as much as MP1. The controller and better story made it great. And for those saying it was more linear, turn off the help system. There, no more computer telling you where to go.

I think that it's common knowledge that Metroid Prime 3 was underscored on Gamespot.

I can't comment on Uncharted. It would probably be one of the first games I would get if I had a PS3 though.

I agree with their score. The control scheme removed a lot of what had made the first 2 so good, such as the feel of exploration.Instead,it felt like Halo with less enemies and more wandering around. The linear environments didn't help either.

Do people even read to Op? He's not even talking about Metroid Prime 3 but rather the first.

open up the 3D map in both games. They look nearly the same, and in MP1 the lava level was literally a straight line. There are a lot of untrue comparisons between MP1&3, and this is one of them. In fact, MP3 had BRANCHING enviroment, and if you TURN OFF THE SHIP'S HINT SYSTEM AND NEVER OPEN UP THE 3D MAP THEN MP3 IS A LOT BETTER AT THE FEELING OF EXPLORATION THAN MP1.

The problem is that while there were plenty of branching paths, none of the environments felt natural.Take Elysia, for example. That place was made up entirely of straight lines and circles.

easily metroid prime .. a true classic

the way it brough the metroid franchise into 3d was just perfect .. IMO as good as when SM64 brough the mario franchise into 3d, and close to OOT's evolution of the zelda franchise

uncharted doesn't get anywhere near reaching that greatness .. it was known mainly for its great graphics, everything else was well done but nothing too great, and pretty generic IMO
