Under hype, games die. Halo 3 and SSBB are next in line

Just last holiday season, a game came out that is surely on of the best games of 2006: Zelda Twilight Princess. Yet by fans it was met with dismay, nitpicking its flaws, and compared to Oot innumerous times. The fact is, the weight of Oot and expectations/hype surronding it broke it down in fan's eyes. Halo 3 and SSBB are the most wanted games this year, and indeed this generation. How will they fare? Will fanboys and hype break them? Even update in the SSBB website is met with: "this information isn't new/suck." Halo 3's graphics are just fine, but they are constantly insulted and called: "ugly/last-gen." Zelda: Twilight Princess is an awesome game, but fanboys claimed it sucked and ruined its reputation. If Halo 3 and SSBB get over hyped, it will surely dissapoint. Consider yourself warned.

For reasons still obscure to me the game got all kinds of GOTY awards, probably because of the hype. The fact is, the hype already put the image of the perfect game into reviewer's minds, so they were positive about the game already before reviewing it. Next in line are now Halo 3 and SSBB.

Gears of War is different in many ways. It doesn't deserve its reviews, etc., but at the same time it doesn't have to live up to any other game in its series, because its the first game in its series.peter1191

Actually I think Halo 3 and SSBB are doing just fine with the hype. They are going to be very addicting games! I can't wait for SSBB, and Halo 3 MP is gonna rock your soxs. But I think the Wii needs SSBB more than 360 needs Halo 3 for the 360 already has a bunch of great games to play, but SSBB is were most Wii owners are gonna log there time into.

The only site that gave Zelda an AA was here... everywhere else it was AAA and it won several GOTY awards. Im not going to stop hyping Smash Bros until this...

Halo, yes it can flop, SSBB, no... GS already underrated the other 2. If htey give it an 8.5 we have the excuse that GS always underrates SSB, but if it gets 9.0 or 9.5 then cheers all round.

If halo gets 8.0 or 8.5... theres no hope, it flopped from the hype it recieved. Is it a bad game though, no it just hurts the pride of those stupid fanboys that hype it AAAA

I think its pretty clear to everyone that you never played Gears of War. SO I don't think anyone will take you seriously. You lost your arguement.

if you actually played the game u would know that the game is 10 hours, if u play all 3 difficulties that could lead up to 30 hours of gameplay. Stop spouting trash troll

Why am I trolling? Is your game a God or something? I played the game, I finished it in a little above 5 hrs. So my time isn't exact, but the fact remains that the game is short. And besides, this topic is about the dangerous of over hyping a game, not about one game that met its own hype.peter1191

We still moaing about Zelda TP? The reason most of use were upset was because they did hardly anything to change to Wii Version of the game but add The Wiimote. And some were upset that the Widescreen support was not in the GC version when you find Wide screen support for most PS2 games.

And the damn game should have been out 2 freaking years ago.

I also believe this thread was made so you could bring up Zelda lol.
