Who do you think deserves MORE credit for their games?
For me, Smilebit. They developed Jet Set Radio Future and Panzer Dragoon Orta... If that isn't win, I don't know what is.

They made Opposing Force, right?
Yeah, they're fairly underrated - that was one of the best expansion packs ever.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they are the ones currently working on Borderlands, right?
That looks awesome...
VanillaWare - The last standing True 2D developer
Kazuya Niinou (retired) - Creator of Trauma Center and Etrian Odyssey
Atlus - Why this developer/publisher still isn't known as the God of Japanese Stylle RPG's to the gaming public I will never know
Shinji Mikami - This guy created Resident Evil series, directed Resident Evil 4, Created the Dino Crisis series, directed God Hand, and has looked over gaming series such as Devil May Cry and Phoenix Wright, along with working at Clover and now SEEDS. So why is this guy not talked about as much as David Jaffee? Hell I hear more about Ninja Theory then him.
Infinity WARD!!!! those guys are amazing, their games (cod series) are just so polished to perfection. i would love to see them do something other than COD.
and Criterion.. Black sucked, but BURNOUT still pwns

Infinity Ward got slathered in a whole lot of undeserved love on G4's "tribute to Infinity Ward" special leading up to the CoD 4 review which got, of course, a 5/5 stars. Please. Burnout's gotten EXTREMELY respectable reviews in almost all publications. Esp Burnout 3. Call of Duty 2 is insanely overrated. CoD4 is a great game, though. Great as in Peter the great, not as in 8.0 great.

Yeah, they are, actually. I'm really excited about the new Brother's in Arms after seeing footage about....5 mo ago on GT. Are they working on Brothers in Arms in addition to Borderlands, or just Borderlands?
It'd be a REAL shame knowing that Brothers in Arms is being created by some half-rate dev.
My nomination for underrated developer is Relic. Company of Heroes and Warhammer Dark Crusade are just too awesome. They are really, REALLY stepping RTS up a notch.
Obsidian. They take a lot of crap of here for Knights of the Old Republic II, but I thought that was a great game. A lot of the aspects of the game, like how your relationships effect the way your party members act towards you, were greatly improved from the first KotOR. It also had a much more nonlinear way for how you deal with each planet. The main problem with the game was that it was rushed, so the story and ending were left incomplete. If they had just gotten as much time as they had originally planned, that probably would have been one of the best games ever.MetroidPrimePwn
I totally agree.
KOTOR 2 had one of the most ambitious and awesome ending sequences I can think of in an RPG, but sadly it got rushed and/or censored, and ended up being crap.
...and, as I've been saying a lot for the past two years, the Restoration Mod will be out soon, demonstrating just how great KOTOR 2 would have been.
Relic, they have made so many great games definitely deserve more attentionnavalCompany of HEors ftw anyone?

Atlus, and also for publishing games which would never see the light of day outside of Japan.Pangster007
Most definately.
They are one of the few RPG developers that have in no way dumb down their premiere franchise for the masses. (Shin Megami Tensei)
They agree to fund and publish games that otherwise would have never ever existed. (Odin Sphere)
They jump hands on with innovation (Trauma Center: Under the Knife, Trauma Center: New Blood, Etrian Odyssey)
They actually spend time to localize their games good.
They actually listen to their fanbase.
And most of all almost every single game whether they've developed it or just simply published it is of quality, something that hasn't been seen from a third party developer since the 90's.
In the future I have no doubt when people look back at today that Atlus is probably going to go down as one of the most under-rated developer/publishers of all-time.
