I never heard of this game but it's interesting that it will support PC / 360 cross play using Windows Live. This will be the first cross platform RTS game in the history of video games and it's from Sega. PCgamers will more than likely complain as usual. You will need to be a Gold suscriber for cross platform play but PC to PC will be free.

The Pc version is due this year and 360 version next year.

I don't know how the controls will be. The only RTS I played with the thumbstick was Lord of the Rings and it played just fine. There is no accuraycy needed in dragging a cursor plus the 360 can support a mouse.

We will have to wait and see how it is done. The Pc version comes out this year and 360 version next year.

Lol who the hell is going to pay for matches they are bound to win anyway? Seriously, even a little kid behind a keyboard and mouse can whipe the floor with a console player in an rts.... I had to laugh at this, what is the bloody point, 360 users simply can't compete against pc gamers in an rts... let alone micro-managing pc gamers....

so 2 things might happen...

1) This game will get shunned by 360 users because, well honestly, who's going to pay for a game just to get their asses handed down to them no matter how hard they try?

2) More gold subscriptions because people that aren't willing to put the effort into learning pc rts gaming want to feel good by beating someone

To make it more "fair" the game will probably only allow the default key settings and there will be no mouse support.

I'll like to see other types of games that support Cross-Platform like Racing, Sports, Card games, Puzzle, 3rd Person Action, Fighting, Flight games.

I would like to see all those games support cross platform also but I wouldn't count on any fighting games on PC. I think UNO will support cross platform.

The only RTS game I can see supporting Cross platform play would be World In Conflict.

"Universe at War: Earth Assault for the Xbox 360 will employ a control scheme built from the ground up to ensure smooth gameplay and ease of command for console gamers. To fully support fair and equal gameplay between PC and Xbox 360 gamers, developer Petroglyph is working to implement a balanced gaming environment and multiple modes for PC vs. Xbox 360 multiplayer games ensuring the best possible experience for gamers on both platforms."

This game is doomed from the start. PC RTS are perfect the way they are. They are gonna have to snuff the excellent M/K scheme in order to get this thing to work. Hopefully, they will enable a standard mode for regular PC play. Also, if it's Live enabled, that means it's Vista only, which makes no sense whatsoever. Sega is essentially shooting itself in the foot.

With games like World in Conflict and CoH Opposing Fronts slated for this fall, there is already great RTS games that will play like a normal rts on PC. No thanks to this one.

Its too early to make that conclusion. What you are stating is speculation.

In any case, im not very excited about this game at all. One of the editors on Games for Windows is hyping it, but i see nothing particularly special about it.

Ok... In an FPS, a few good console gamers at least had a chance...

But in an RTS setting... Man. Us Xbox 360 players would just get consistently owned. So hard.

Well, Vista only already handicaps it. Plus, how are the controls to be decided? I will be floored if they can pull this off without ticking off the entire RTS fanbase on the PC. This just seems common sense to me. Now if it was turn based, than that would work no problem at all. It's the whole Real Time thing that's got me. Controls should not have to be altered in order to please one side of gamers, that complete BS.

The lack of hot keys and the accuracy of a mouse means that the 360 players will get destroyed.

If GTR3 was to go Cross-Platform with the 360 you still say something bad about it. Face it you don't like the 360 or MS. This game looks to do something different and you bash it. :|

I highly doubt this game will be Vista only. From what i saw the Live interface installs once with a Live enabled game and then integrates with all the Live games you install. Shadowrun was modified by a warez group to play on XP but Live does not work so there is no online play. I am sure this game will have both installs for XP with no cross platform and the Vista version with Live/cross platform. Only time will tell but Sega is not Microsoft so they will care about sales.

GTR would be great, it's the RTS and FPS genres that I would naturally take issue with, along with many other people. Sorry, but I enjoy my PC Games the way they are and my console games the way they are. No need to ruin a perfectly good forumla.

I don't think so. I played the beta religously, there is no way a person could keep up with all the units with a controller vs. the M/K combo, it's just not going to happen and the developer even commented on this. It's hectic enough with a mouse when you are in an all out battle. Also, the camera is 3D and I would imagine it wouldn't control nearly as well with a pad.
