its funny how people argue over 360 UT 3 over ps3 UT 3 saying it will look better on 360 cos they are more advanced on their technology but where the 360's processor runs using 3 cores the ps3's processor uses 8 cores but its just a case of who loves their system more in some cases one person argued a game run off a 360 disc can hands down beat a blue ray disc ignoring the copacity of the discs space but it seems that the creators of UT have signed off as an exclusive to ps3 http://news.softpedia.com/news/Unreal-Tournament-3-Confirmed-as-a-PS3-Exclusive-59714.shtmlwhich kind of puts a end to arguments

anyone can feel free to dissagree with me but if youquestion my proof i havefound it in the link above and in the 098 september 07 issue of PSWon pages 32 and 13 but honestly its fun so feel free to question lol :D

Article was written: 12th of July 2007

Epic has since talked about the 360 version. Seems that article is false.

In fact, on August 15th they talked specifically about the 360 version.

If this was flamebait, its failed. If not, you need to read sources better before believing them.

I can't imagine playing a UT game without lightning fast pace. Without a keyboard and mouse it isn't really the same game.

indeed, UT games are way to fast paced for consoles. it can only be enjoyed with a kb/m, on console it would be gimped to hell just so you wont notice all your shots are hitting jacks***. and seeing the ps3 version u can use a kb/m, doesnt that ruin the whole console thing, sure does for me. when i play on a console i dont wanna use kb/m, IMO.

Its been confirmed exclusive for 2007 only. Its coming to 360 in 2008. And the "price drop" is not a price drop, its a temporary reduction in price to clear inventory of a discontinued product.

Right but the game won't be designed around it. Otherwise KBM players would wipe the floor with everyone else.

I already linked you to an August 15th interview with a developer at Epic who was discussing the 360 version of the game. Its going to ship with less maps due to space constraints with DVD, but it is still coming out.

also the creators suggest that the full potential is only available on blue ray due to its vast amount of space

"In the next-gen console wars, Sony has just won a battle thanks to the latest statement of Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games. He claims thatUnreal Tournament 3can only show its full potential on a Blu-ray disk, instead of the DVD used on the Xbox 360."

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Unreal-Tournament-3-Runs-Better-on-PS3-Than-It-Does-on-the-Xbox-360-62847.shtml

can som1 also show me the article which mentions UT3 on 360?

DVD Could Hold Back Unreal Tournament 3 X360 (Updated, Reorganized)
by Chris Faylor Aug 15, 2007 3:40pm CST

The Xbox 360 version of Epic's Unreal Tournament III may face some challenges due to the smaller capacity of the console's DVD-9 discs, Epic VP Mark Rein indicated at his Edinburg Interactive Festival session.

"We may have fewer maps on the 360 version," Rein admitted
when discussing the upcoming shooter in the presence of a GamesIndustry.biz reporter. "[The PlayStation 3's] Blu-ray has definitely given us a lot of legroom."

Microsoft's decision to forgo a higher-capacity storage medium in the Xbox 360 hardware has drawn criticism from certain members of the industry. Some claim that the limitation of about 9 GB of data per DVD restricts developers, whereas the PlayStation 3's Blu-ray discs can hold around 50 GB.

At QuakeCon, id Software announced that the the Xbox 360 edition of its id Tech 5-powered shooter-driving hybrid Rage would arrive on two DVDs while the PlayStation 3 edition will occupy only one Blu-ray disc. The PC and Mac editions of the game will to ship on two DVDs as well, with Blu-ray editions a possibility.

"The simple facts state that the optical disc on the PS3 holds more data than the optical disc on the 360. If we exceed size of the 360s optical disc then we'll have to find alternative ways to get the content to 360 users such as making it downloadable," Rein wrote on Epic's official message board. "I continue to be disappointed that folks on the internet treat any positive thing we say about one platform as some sort of critique of another platform."

"We're all very used to downloading extra content for console games and with UT3 there will be lots of it for all supported platforms," he continued. "I don't know the exact numbers but I suspect the version of Gears of War that most of our customers play today on their 360s, when you combine the downloadable content with the content on the disc, is larger than what we could fit on the 360's optical disc alone."

Earlier this week, Microsoft revealed that MMO developers could require the optional Xbox 360 HDD for their games--a concession previously made for Square Enix's Final Fantasy XI and Sega's Europe-only Football Manager 2006. Reported by MCV, the company did not provide any clarification for non-MMO titles, though Rein's comments suggest the HDD may be required for the Xbox 360 edition of UT3 to match the content of the other versions.

Both the PlayStation 3 and PC iterations of Unreal Tournament III are due out this fall, whereas the Xbox 360 version isn't expected until sometime next year. Rein partly attributed the Xbox 360 delay to Epic and Microsoft's inability to come to an understanding regarding the support and distribution of free user-created mods. Rein has also confirmed the PS3 edition will support keyboard and mouse controls, a feature not likely to be found in the Xbox 360 effort.

There is going to be an option for players with controllers to play against controllers or have mixed games. The same with the people who play with k/m the can play against k/m players or have mixed games

they are making the game with both controls in mind, and the host of a game can set if KB/M players are allowed in their game or just sixaxis players or mix it up if they like. point is ps3 version is the better one if you dont have a highend pc

That sucks, I hope the PC game isn't compramised to make it multiplatform. Ala Thief 3, Deus Ex 2 and Oblivion.

this is why they delayed the 360 version, 2 platforms to concentrate on is much easier than 3. i dont know how you can read a game is being compromised out of the fact that it supports 2 controls on ps3 and gamers can set who they want to be allowed to play in their game...

Because to make the game work with a slower control method the game needs to be slower. That's why you don't have console games that play like a traditional Quake style arena game.

ok i see there is a solution to the capacity issues but it also means the 360 version will not be able to keep up to pace with the ps3 version due to cutbacks but to what extent will these cut backs go to because its said that they will ship multiple disks so how exactly will it work installing it to your 360 or maybe it will run like floppy disks? and as it mentioned it also recieved alot of criticism

UT3 is shipping on one disc, with the possible option of downloadable packs to make up for the lack of disc space. The two disc game is a game from iD software, which is completely unreleated to Epic or UT3. You don't read things very carefully.

from most accounts i have seen the ps3 version and pc is the same quick/intense action the series is known for. why would they need to slow the game down just because it supports a gamepad? it may take a while to get used to playing so fast on sixaxis but if it is that hard for some people then get a usb KB/M at wal mart for like 10 bux. this is why they give you the option, as for the 360 version well i dont know what the hell is going on with that game it seems to be a mess.

It is not possible to target as accurately or as quickly with an analog stick as with a mouse. Unless the game is horribly unbalanced some form of compromise will have to be made to allow both controll methods to coexist.

i never said it was as accurate, even though some lemmings would try to convince everybody that the 360 pad is better than KB/M when they were talking about pad gamers beating KB/M players for this game or either shadowrun, when they were testing it in OXM i believe?i know it is not as accurate, i game on pc every day.

but maybe you just arent reading my first post or just not comprehending it... i said the host of a game can set if KB/M users are allowed or not. also just because you are one of the players with a KB/M that doesnt automatically mean you will own every gamepad user on PSN,some people genuinely suck at FPS regardless.so again, what are you on about?

arghh! If the game has been designed with gamepads in mind to compete against KBM then compromises will have been made. Epic are not just going to go "screw them they can go buy a KB&M"

i never said it was as accurate, even though somelemmings would try to convince everybody that the 360 pad is better than KB/M when they were talking about pad gamers beating KB/M players for this game i believe it was or either shadowrun when they were testing it in OXM i believe?i know it is not as accurate, i game on pc every day.

but maybe you just arent reading my first post or just not comprehending it... i said the host of a game can set if KB/M users are allowed or not. also just because you are one of the players with a KB/M that doesnt automatically mean you will ownevery gamepad user on PSN,some people genuinely suck at FPS regardless.so again, what are you on about?cakeorrdeath

arghh! If the game has been designed with gamepads in mind to compete against KBM then compromises will have been made. Epic are not just going to go "screw them they can go buy a KB&M"

uh i think that is exactly what they had in mind, if you are getting your ass handed to you go buy a kb/m if you think it will help you. you act like there is going to be a big rift or split and half the psn gamers are gonna be using kb/m. ITS AN OPTION! if you dont have the highest end pc and you used to play UT games on pc then the ps3 version is a viable option and it supports the same controls you are used to. in all likelihood most of the psn gamers will be using pads. and also there is a little thing called AA, im not saying it uses it but im sure they can enable it for pads if they feel in testing it needs it.

They will not segregate their community like that. Their main priority is money, which means making it as accessable as possible to everyone.

PS3 version will be the test dummy.

They will see what works and what doesn't, fix all the flaws,

Then make the 360 version the superior version for consoles.

if KB/M supports is needed, I wont be surprised if the 360 version will have KB/M support.

As of right now we know very little about the 360 version of UT3,

so compare if you want but the 360 version will come out later and will be the updated/superior version,

console wise.

they did exactly that when they announced it will support all controls. and again you are acting like half psn users are gonna be using kb/m on their couches, if gamers dont like getting owned by the kb/m users then they can join only games that allow pad users if they want, if they want to test their skills then they can go against the small amount of kb/m users there will be.

oh you mean the version with limited mods if at all, no kb/m support, and potentially stripped out maps that they will probably charge you for to download onto your 20gb HDD, that version?
