USGamer: Atlus, make Persona 5 about BDSM

The possibilities are endless. Which is simultaneously appropriate and ironic thing for me to say, I guess, given that we're discussing the sticky issue of slavery. But now that you've mentioned, I'd actually like to see Atlus attempt to address something like BDSM -- mostly because I want to see a franchise of considerable popularity do right by the scene. I won't lie. This is because of Fifty Shades of Grey, a book I utterly abhored due to its worryingly one-dimensional portrayal of a D/s (dominant/submissive) relationship. Atlus, I suspect, could probably do way better. Pfft. Speculations aside, I just want Persona 5 to happen already. It's one of the few properties I unabashedly fangirl. Whatever Atlus ends up throwing at us, I suspect I'd be pleased and hopelessly riveted for days to come.

I wish Catherine were a JRPG instead of a boring puzzle game. The Persona premise of children playing at killing demons at midnight it's getting boring after 2 very similar games. But as always, the Japanese prefer their 16 years old protagonist and school life stories instead of something more directed at adults like Catherine.

I'm going to ask my ma and pa tomorrow after school about BDSM, see what they know since they played the older Persona games and own all the Shin Megami Tensei games. I'll tell them about my conversation on the internet and they might have a few answers.

I know it's surprising, but they play all the good RPGs.I'm the luckiest boy in the world, imo.

There's already a related franchise of more adult-oriented Persona-type games: Shin Megami Tensei, i.e. Persona's older brother. The Persona series was intended to be a more accessible teen-oriented take on the SMT franchise.

Anyway, there are a ton of Japanese stories centred around adults. JRPG's just so happen to have more teenage protagonists because the average age of the RPG gamer in Japan is lower than in the West. Older Japanese adults tend to have longer working hours, so they usually don't have the time to dedicate to RPG's.

Wow! Isn't this game about teenagers!? Bold, bold move by Atlus. Can't say I remember too much S&M in high school though. Sex was pretty awkward and basic for the first while now that I think about it.

I would rather Atlus make a game about Alan and Nichole from Miiverse.

Update: I talked to my parents when I got home from school. After earning a cookie from the cookie jar, I asked mom. She immediately called for Dad...we ended up having a long two hour conversation. They also checked what internet site I was discussing BDSM. It turns out the term is older than the storied Persona games.

Needless to say, the term much different than I thought it would be. I think your parents might know too, but what I learned today I can't discuss on the internet. Good luck.
