According to a Japanese developer blog the game Valkyria Chronicles was originally planned as an Xbox 360 exclusive game. When the game was announced however, development had already switched to the Playstation 3 platform. According to publisher SEGA the game has been in development for over three years, and had switched platform early on in development. The exact reason why the developer switched to Playstation 3 was not mentioned.

Valkyria Chronicles is currently slated to hit store shelves this Fall exclusively on Playstation 3.

The news here is that it should be out soon, especially if it has been in development that long.

So far no news, but it could be very easily ported, probably to make more money, IF they do port it.

Surely the 360 has lost just as many exclusives as the PS3 by now?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Xbox fans were screaming about how awesome this game was to have as an exclusive until only recently...

Is this ownage, or do I have the wrong title in mind?

I'm guessing the lack of X360 sales in Japan lead to this move.

I'm sure I read something somewhere about it coming to the 360, this seems to back that up

And what, I wonder, spurred the move to make Samurai Warriors, Dynasty Warriors, Warriors Orochi, DW Gundam....

Infinite Undiscovery (exclusive), and Eternal Sonata (timed exclusive) on Xbox 360? To tell the truth: I don't even have the slightest idea. There are a LOT of Japanese titles, especially 360 only titles on the Xbox. Don't ask me why the hell those developers are making the move towards Xbox....Ace Combat stands out in my mind as the craziest thing I've seen in a while.

I'd be shocked if it wasn't eventually ported to the x360, it looks fantastic, and SEGA isn't known to do exclusives very often (unless they are sega console exclusives).

I don't think anyone knows we can only guess. I'm guessing loads of money from MS to try to rally Japanese gamer support. Or it could be the install base of PS3 wasn't large enough. Or it could be X360 was the only real next gen system at the time they started developing those games. Either way poor sales of most of those titles and poor japanese sales of X360 in general will eventually mean lack of japanese titles on x360.

TBH I think the games seem to sell well enough on the 360. The irony of it is that the 360 fanbase on the face of it doesn't seem to want these games, so they become scarce, which means that any and all attempts to appease the few that do want these games are greeted with open arms. The 360 is a very strong choice for Japanse style games so long as it isn't saturated with them. I am surprised one publisher hasn't capitilised on this to make themselves the 360 JRPG publisher of choice.

What JRPG has sold well on the 360? Even Lost Odyssey, with tons of television ads, didn't sell near what it deserved to sell.

I was under the impression it was doing quite well. Not millions well, but well enough. IIRC all the RPGs were on the top 10 list at one point, for a period of one week on the 360 that is bound to get some decent sales.

Numbers say under 500k world wide, considering what must have been spent on prime time tv commercials, and marketing in general, that can't be considered a massive success...

Too Human uses the right analog stick for attacks, it doesn't belong on any console unless they change that.

To be honest I think that is a marketing faliure more than a sales faliure. I'd imagine the sales would've been more or less the same with or without the adverts since the titles were always gunning for a small and well defined minority, but a very active minority nonetheless.
