Party game specifically means a collection of mini games.. L4D is most certainly not that.

all but the final rounds can be played in a few mins if that. i have had games of L4D with friends that last a shorter amount of time then a game of wii sports tennis with the same group of friends. That's not in the definition of a party game.A party game is a game that is generally a wide-appeal, easy-to-pick-up game, generally simple. Usually it means it consists of several mini-games, such as Warioware (more accurately "microgames" there) and Mario Party. Even if it's single-genre, such as Smash Bros or Mario Kart, it still follows the other main criteria of being simple and having a wide appeal. You don't have to like fighting games to like Smash Bros, or racing games to like Mario Kart.
L4D... is a shooter. If you don't like shooters, you probably won't like L4D. And the campaigns can be fairly lengthy for a multiplayer game. Also, it's mostly online, unless you're doing splitscreen on the 360. Why you would play a Valve game on the 360, I have no clue, but that's pretty much the only way it has anything in common with a party game. And by that logic, Quake Live or Halo's online multiplayer are party games, too.
Also, it's a stretch to call Smash Bros or Mark Kart party games, too.
how is smash bro's a mini game and not L4D... there is no taking it back you called smash bro's a mini gameedit: i love my pc shooters
