Looks like Valve will be one of the major presenters at GDC 2015.

They will be unveiling and presenting multiple major things at the conference.

One of which is the main competitor of DX12 and AMD's mantle. The unveiling of glNext.

There will multiple things discussed throughout the week by Valve.

I keep hoping one of these graphics API's will curb stomp DirectX to allow non Windows machines a chance at running the newer games with fewer issues.

I would really like to dump Windows, but gaming sucks on Linux because of shit drivers and DirectX/bad ports from.

Don't expect anything guys.

They always say "Feature Presenter" and it's always just them with a big booth at the convention with hardly anything noteworthy to talk about.

Does Valve still develop games?

Honest question.

Yes.

They are still working on the concept of releasing, however. Also I think they haven't quite figured out 3 yet.

I'm playing Portal right now and feeling sad at the same time. That's how awesome Valve used to be as game developers and now they're all about Steam, MOBAs, and multiplayer. They'll announce more things at GDC that no one will care about. Valve just fell from being my best developers to third position and it'll become worse every year until they come up with some Single Player game.

glNext could be amazing... This could be one of the most boring and/or most important GDC presentations ever.

Honestly, I think they are waiting on finalizing the steam os, source engine 2, and getting steam box type-machine to announce their multiple titles all at once. We know that multiple games are being developed that haven't been announced. It is only a matter of time.

Once you start working for so very long on a game you enter Duke Nukem Forever or The Last Guardian territory i.e. constant reworking of features and never really getting anywhere.

Sure, it could be a lot of that time is spent working on Source 2 but in fact we really don't know anything. They haven't even released a single screenshot of their engine or an upcoming game.

Besides, they said they were all about MP-experiences now so what's the chance of them doing another SP-centric game like Portal or Half Life again ? Just like Cloud_imperium these used to be my favourite devs. But I really don't care what games they are making anymore. That's a real shame.

Closest we got so far for source 2

But valve does have me worried about HL.

I think that was confirmed fake/made by a fan. This is the actually closest we got:

At the end of HL2: Episode 1 we got a trailer for the second episode. At the end of Episode 2 we didn't get a trailer for Episode 3, I knew something was up then. They should just make a short episode or whatever, close the story off and don't end with a cliffhanger. Just end the series, have Gordon die with terminal throat cancer (why he couldn't speak) from all the radiation in Black Mesa.

No use of having a cliffhanger when there isn't going to be a sequel or when it takes 10+ years to make one.

@Daious:

Not going to hold my breath my man. Have been disappointed too many times by Valve's trolling. Will see when that happens. Right now from what I've gathered from interviews, Valve is focusing on user generated contents and they'll use Left 4 dead 3 to advertise their Source 2 engine. That's the best game they have to advertise Source 2 being user friendly. Just like what Epic is doing with Unreal Tournament.

Highly doubt they'll show a new game. I'd hope for a TF3 if Overwatch didn't exist..

I wanted Half-Life, then Portal came. I wanted HL, then L4D came. I wanted HL, then L4D2 came. I wanted HL, then Portal 2 came. If they'll show a Portal 3, I think I might murder Valve.. I'm OK with a new L4D, but then it better be damn good. And have some sort of punishment implemented for rage quitters, so you're actually able to play more than 5 minutes a match.. L4D 1&2 are, like, the best multi-player games ever that are completely unplayable because of the community.

L4D3 related stuff was found in the Source 2 stuff. Portal is finished. They even released official modding tools for players to create their own levels.

Since TF2, CS GO and DOTA 2 are up and running, i get a new IP would make sense now since HL3 is never happening.

HAHAHAHA. I'm sad too.
