I dont know about you, but i'm saying it's because the Wii and DS Lite were sold out. I dont know why the Japanese suddenly decided to buy PS3s though.

that was my poorly-worded point. If Wii sales are down and they are abundently available - and PS3 sales went up - that means Sony is doing well.Â

For the PS3 crowd harping about how great this is just remember the first day sales of Gundam were roughly 130,000 units and 30,000 ps3s so that means in the 6 days after the first day of sales the gundam game only sold 40,000 more and the ps3 only sold 10,000 more so how is this so great again?

720,000 the total number of PS3s sold in Japan to date and this is with the 1,000,000 that Sony said they shipped 2 weeks into January. Plus an average of 50,000 more shipped each week so looking at it that way you would see the PS3 did not even sell out a shipment since launch.

Actually the game came out on Mar 1st which was last Thursday. They compile sales figures through Sunday so they only had 3 more days worth of sales that were on that report. Gundam also sold out its first shipment so the numbers could have been higher. It will be interesting to see how well Gundam and the PS3 sells for this week.
