i dunno if this is new ,news or old, but i read this tday in the paper and it sounded kind of cool. U.S. surgeon working on a "tele-health" breakthrough has devised a way for videogamers to feel shots, stabs, hits dealt to their onscreen characters.it uses air pressure & feedback from computer games to deliver pneumatic thumps tot he spots on players torsos where they would have been struck were they actually in the battlefields.the "3rd space " vest will make its debut in november along with the fps game call of duty& a custom made title. a 3rd space vest that mimics the feeling of g- forces & turning pressures of flight and car games is to be launched early nxt year after Ombrellaros company TN games finds exciting titles to match it with.TN games is based in tech giant Microsofts home town of redmond, washington. "weve had some Microsoft people check it out", Ombrellaro added. it w○7s originally designed as a medical device to give medical exams via the internet to prisoners elderly people etc. bawathegamer

Probably because it immerses you more into the game.BumFluff122
Getting shot or stabbed isn't like getting punched in the arm. It kinda hurts you know?
Why would anybody want to feel what it is like to be shot or stabbed?Sir-Marwin105

Pretty much.
And I must say, excellent choice of an avatar pic. That game seriously had one of the greatest stories I've heard in a long while, and astounding gameplay, as well. I played through it twice in the same night, just because I wanted to see the sick intentions of Aperture Science unfold again.

Heh, I don't really see how "air pressure & feedback" would realistically depict gunshots and stabs, heck would being shot at feels like being squeezed along with maybe rumble?[QUOTE="Sir-Marwin105"]Why would anybody want to feel what it is like to be shot or stabbed?darklord888
You've euphanized you're faithful companion cube faster than any other test subject on record. Congratulations.
The Aura "Interactor" was made 15-20 years ago... not nearly as sophisticated... but let you "feel" punches and kicks.remaGloohcSdlOI remember that, they also introduced motion control for the first time around then.

Yes, feeling the actual shot or stab would immerse you more into the game...negatively. Who the hell would want to feel actual pain other than those crazy masochist gamers out there who number very few? :?

bingoSounds like a lazy person's idea of getting hurt.
lol
The idea sucks.
One of the joys of videogames is that you are able to play as a character that can take infinite amounts of damage in a virtual world. Even repeated cycles of dying and resurrection without you, the person playing the videogame, recieving any harm.
Now why would you want to transfer all that damage taken onin a virtual world into someone in the real world???
As much as I enjoy violence in the media, I just hear about this and think: What kind of maniac though it would be a good idea to inflict pain on someone by taking damage from a character in a videogame?
I've got an even better idea...
I'll be open for hire, and if you're interested, I'll come to your house and punch you in the face while you play Tekken. It'll be so realistic, 4d will seem last gen.

Let me check my schedule. I'm filling up fast, people can't get enough of the realism.

bingoWhat, first you were against it now you are for it?
So, it's the dumbest idea because it wouldn't be painful? I guess it's dumb playing games at all, because I don't feel any pain when a my virtual character gets stomped on by a dragon, falls into a spike pit, or gets blasted into outer space.

IMO this is a pretty cool idea for certain types of games, it depends on the person, i wouldn't think it will be painful, that would be a stupid idea. For certain games like flight simulator, it will add some realism into the game, feeling the g-forces and things like that.
