Video game explosions aproaching movie explosions?

first of all...for those of you who didnt know, these days...movie explosions are all done through computer generated graphics, so they arent actually real either, which is why it isnt such an unimaginable conclusion that video game explosions are aproaching computer generated explosions pretty quickly....

just take a look at this.(what else but crysis for everything graphical related)

and look at the 30 second mark...

This is only a youtube quality video, but already, it looks so incrediblly convincing and real its almost scary.

for me at least, one of the things I always hated was fake looking explosions, that for some reason always felt unemersive...but damn, if we can get something like that in every game...than wow.

That was awesome!!! Is that in DX10? Oh and i don't think thats real time, he probably used some commands to record it then play it back at a higher speed.

That was awesome!!! Is that in DX10? Oh and i don't think thats real time, he probably used some commands to record it then play it back at a higher speed.

yeah, Im pretty sure its sped up cause its so smooth, but still...all this is in the game, just waiting for powerfull enough hardware to access it.

yea its amazing, they actually do almost look real.
