Vin Diesel / Starbreeze - 3rd Riddick game in the works.

If they don't mess with the formula too much it should be a must-buy.

Vin Diesels Tigon Studios has been reassembled, according to the actor, in order to deliver a third game in the Riddick series.

Speaking in two separate interviews, recently with Screencrush and with IGN back in July, Diesel said he has reassembled the Starbreeze team behind The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay to create the third game.

Theres this huge concept [behind the game] which is more of a MMO game that would be centered around people being able to play mercs and its basically the merc trade, he said to IGN. Theres a very cool game concept behind that. So we got our guys in Sweden that were part of Starbreeze and were pulling them back together to make the next Riddick game that were really excited about.

Diesel said the team made the two prior Riddick games as a way to flesh out the mythology more, without having to spend tens of millions of dollars by doing it through films.

So it was kind of us being resourceful in some ways and using a less costly medium, the video game and the animatics and the cinematics in the video game, to, you know, expand the universe, he said.

The latest Riddick film is now in theaters and it pulled in over $18.7 Million last weekend.

One small problem is some of the Starbreeze guys are making the new Wolfenstein right now. That seams to be a trend with small studios who have had some success....They lose guys to biger studios.

Had the other 2 installed for ages, now need to bother actually playing game. Now might be a good time, I guess.

Butcher Bay and Assault on Dark Athena were great games, hopefully they don't try and do silly things with the formula.

More like the 1st than the 2nd please.  I'd love a new Riddick.

I have faith in Starbreeze.

Had me until mmo. Will pass if the concept comes to fruition. No interest in relying on other's participation to have fun. I'll still have Butcher Bay after all.

Loved the first two, and have been hoping for a third for a long time. However if they make it into an MMO, I will seriously be let down, and will have to pass.

If Starbreeze and Tigon turns the new Riddick game into an MMO it would be even worse then what Ubisoft did to Ghost Recon.

I don't know what these devs are thinking when they take a beloved franchise with proven game style, then change it into something completely different. If they want to make a SP campaign on par with preferably Butcher Bay, then have a MMO included, I'm more then fine with that, but if they decide to make it MMO only....then they have lost their minds!!!

I guess every dev wants to fail at one time or another trying to become the next COD....so..so..sad.

I think it's the same on PC as it is on consoles? You buy Assault on Dark Athena, and it comes with Escape from Butcher Bay also. I could be wrong, but I think it does.

This is great news as far as I am concerned. Both the Riddick games were excellent. Especially the first one, Escape from Butcher Bay. The second game, Assault on Dark Athena, was great, it simply didn't quite reach the bar set by the first game.

I think the updated version that comes with Assault on Dark Athena is the better version to play anyway. It has all the same great gameplay and dialogue as the original, only with much better graphics. It's the version I have on my PC and I feel no need to install the original version.

I hope it is similar to but better than the original 2, I really enjoyed both games but there was a lot of room for improvement. Ill keep my eye ont his news.

If I could use an analogy, it's like buying a HD remaster of a classic game with some extra bonus content thrown in.

The movie hasn't fared well with critics, but f*ck that, us Philistines don't care about cinematography and rack focusing and all that boring bullshit :D
