I mean, DOA4 might have big, pretty, interactive environments, but VF5 takes the crown when it comes to all around visual presentation, especially with the cahracter models.

DOA4

VF5

I know, someone's probably thinking "bububu... teh hot chix!" to which I will respond: you haven't lived until you've seen VF5's Vanessa, all sweatied-up with the sun glistening off of her cleavage. It's true that some people may prefer DOA4's idealism when it comes to character design, with wide-eyed realdoll faces, flat butts, and big, friendly melons. But considering how much skin DOA relies on showing to get attention, it's a shame it's not better rendered. Everyone in the game looks like they're made of perfect, smooth plastic. In Virtua Fighter 5, everyone's skin is covered with thousands of tiny bump-mapped imperfections, which leads to some amazing effects. When characters get wet, their clothes and skin glistens in the light with moisture, and all the tiny imperfections look increadible when you see the game moving in high definition. You can't get that in DOA4, because the detail just isn't there.

DOA4

VF5

And if you think that the skin rendering on this monk is impressive, you haven't lived until you've seen Vanessa when she's all sweatied up, with the sun glittering off of her cleavage. DOA4 might load up a healthy helping when it comes to shameless fanservice, but at least VF5 gives you something high quality to look at.

DOA4 does have online, a credit which can't be denied. But really, I'd rather play an excellent fighting game offline than a broken one online. VF5's graphics are just the icing on a cake that's just plain all around better than DOA4, except for the lack of online (which IMO is an acceptable tradeoff considering how much better it is.)

Dumb thread.  DOA 4 has the better enviroments and nothing can match the detail on the clothing.  VF 5 has the better character models.   VF 5 was also released 1 + years after DOA 4.  Both games look good.  Deal with it.

Oh yeah and comparing the females was a horrible point.

i disapprove of it. it has no purpose. I don't sit in front of my tv with a magnifier to see which character model is better. plus he's just biased towards vf5 because, and ONLY because, DOA is an xbox franchise. That is the only reason. These comparisons wouldn't exist if they both were on ps3.

Mortal Kombat Armageddon has online and I can already play it: point? If a game is broken, then who cares if it's online? And also, we'll see if the Xbox 360 version of VF4 lives up to the PS3 one when it's actually out... And for now, it doesn't really matter, because you have to wait for it anyway. Also, Jeff hates good games now, so his opinion of fighting games does not count in my eyes. He was lured in by DOA4's boobies and naked teenage girls, and never looked back.

So, basically you're saying that because VF5 has "better" graphics, DOA4 is borken?  I see two arguments here...one of them was supported, while the other...

VF has been out in arcades for over a year. It's the same age as DOA4, it just took the console port a while to come out.

OMG GUESS WHAT!?!?!?

DOA 4 graphics > VIrtua Fighter 3 graphics!

Seriously, why are you comparing two games one year apart? And doesn't that say something for Virtual Fighter 5 that they had the extra year development time and couldn't even make the backgrounds look better than DOA 4?

I'm sure that the 360 version will have better graphics - not necessarily because the Xbox 360 is more powerfil, but the extra dev time will benefit. Imagine if they re-re-released Fight Night Round 3 for the 360 in 10 months. The graphics of that would pwn the PS3 version.

whats wrong with her earring they look fine to me? atleast she has earrings anyways.. the yellow head girl only has a 1 color suit. anyways dont make me talk bad about VF5 if they add anything extra to the 360 like online play or an extra character ill probably get it. i liked VF4 so VF5 will be an ok purchace.

They didn't bother to add any enhancements?

That's sad if the arcade engine is as powerful as the PS3. Virtua Fighter 5 should look better than the arcade

Its SEGA were talking about here...since when do they make games with outstanding graphics?

DOA4 - 360 -Release date December 29, 2005
VF5 - Arcade- Release date July 12, 2006

Its a 7 month difference man you act as if the arcade game coincided with Doa4's release. Oh and as to your point about Virtua Fighter 5 being out for over a year in arcades. Sorry its only been 7 months almost 8 now. Oh Timstuff please no your material.

edit: error on the doa date
