What do you all think of Square Enix's CEO commenting on next-generation consoles? I found it fairly interesting.

He's right. Not that 360 or Ps3 are 'bad', but Sony and MS pretty much misread the market.

And an oxymoron is two words shoved together that contradict each other...like Military Intelligence.

All I saw was an excuse pointing to more content on Wii. Which is not bad if they aiming for he money as long as they do it right.

Or maybe it's a hint on another excuse for them taking the easy way out and not making complex enough games.

It's interesting and all, but considering they already have multiple 'next-gen' games announced for the 360 and PS3, such as FFXIII and Versus, The last Remnant and so on...

OMG but you really feel like you are part of the game using motion sensing, like I could have sworn I was Zelda a couple months ago when I first started playing!

Ok I see, you shouldn't have told though. Now some might figure it out. Ah well, doesn't matter anyway. But to respond to your post, what is it that the market wants? That's the big question.

How about we wait until this cycle on consoles is over before we say who judged the market right or wrong.

The market want's what it has bought every gen. A cheap, simple, idiot proof, game focused system that has a great line up of software ranging from the simple stuff like duckhunt, halo, parappa, wii sports, GTA...to the big stuff like zelda, resident evil, and metal gear solid.

You make very good points, but who's to say the PS3/360 don't have games like that? That's where things get more interesting. I can see someone calling the 360 simple or complicated, the PS3 not so much yet since there isn't much out and the same for the Wii. Really, they aren't that difficult, not like Wada makes them out to be, the same basic concept applies. You put in a game, the system loads it, and there you go, start the game and play. If we were talking games only, I could see your point but they're still game systems at the core either way.

Aaaaaaaaaaand this guys never played Zelda.... not at all. So I think we can say he's not really much of a gamer. If you've played a Zelda game you'd know the character you play as is Link.

And its not motion control that makes the games complex (though it makes them better). We're just saying that graphics don't either. There have always been complex deep games on systems and it doesnt matter how many polygons are on a character when it comes to that.

It is very, very important to note that you cannot be Zelda simply because of the Wii Remote. You CAN, however, be Link, because that is who you play as. Yes, you become him.

Yeah I know I screwed up my comment, oh well. When I was typing I either ment to say Link or that I was part of the Zelda game, I'm not really sure which I wanted to say now that I think about it.

Neither would I. Luckily theres the Wii, 360, and PS3 none of which warrant a lame comparison like that.

In reference to all the Gamecube 1.5 comments, not even the theoretical gamecube 27 could run wii sports, and that alone makes the wii a new experience. you don't hear people calling the DS "GBA 1.5" even tho graphical power-wise, it pretty much is.

Me too. I love that there are pretty much two types of consoles out now. But N has been succesful with the Wii and DS by NOT copying the competition. That's a major part of the blue ocean strategy. If MS and Sony want to copy N's success, then hopefully they will be smart enough not to just copy the wii, but to copy N's strategy and try and stand out.
